J. Cole Defends Colin Kaepernick From Critics Who Say He Can’t Play In The NFL

Anyone familiar with J. Cole and his music is aware he’ll stand up and speak out for what he believes in. This time, Cole is speaking out in defense of National Football League quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

This off-season, there will be a deluge of reports and signings concerning the hottest free agents and most scintillating rookies at the NFL combined from outlets that simultaneously ignore the fact Kaepernick, who holds the NFL’s Super Bowl rushing record for a quarterback, still wants to play football. Kaepernick made headlines when he took a knee in protest of police brutality and opted out of his contract with San Francisco 49ers in 2017 to become a free agent.

Recently, Cole retweeted a video from The Rich Eisen Show during which Eisen spoke in support of Colin Kaepernick while simultaneously lambasting the NFL’s limp-wristed response to the ongoing clarion call to get the former Pro Bowl QB another shot. This prompted one follower to imply Kaepernick was no longer in playing condition.

    J. Cole continued, “And, respectfully lil bro, how could you know what he has in him and what he doesn’t?  And, respectfully, you’re 100% right about throwing against the wind and to ghost db’s. But always remember, he’s been doing that every day for 5 years, when the entire world was saying he had zero shot of ever playing again. Have you ever wanted something  that bad?”

    J. Cole then retweeted the show segment in which Rich Eisen spoke of Kaepernick with the following text mentioning Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Caroll, the organization itself, as well as the Las Vegas Raiders, Carolina Panthers, Buccaneers and Tom Brady.

“They gave us positive responses,” Kaepernick told reporters while working out in Seattle. “Trainers I’ve talked to, organizations that I’ve talked to, have said ‘You look good.’ My arm’s still alive, I’m still ready to go. More than anything, we’re looking to come in, put some work in and show everyone what I can do. More than anything, we want the opportunity to showcase where I’m at.”

    J. Cole, Lil Baby, Lil Wayne, Jeezy, T.I. + More To Perform At 2022 Dreamville Festival

The Dreamville boss has expressed support for Kaepernick in various ways, including a name drop on Miguel’s 2018 track “Come Through And Chill” where he rapped, “In case my lack of reply had you catchin’ them feelings Know you’ve been on my mind like Kaepernick kneelin’ Or police killings, or Trump sayin’ slick shit/Manipulatin’ poor white folks because they’re ig’nant.”

Earlier this month, Cole confirmed his Dreamville Festival line up, which features Lil’ Baby, Lil’ Wayne, Wale, Ari Lennox, T-Pain and many more. It all goes down on April 2-3 at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, North Carolina.

    1. 11-24 in his last 3 seasons, he got benched for blaine gabbert. thats why the first time he “kneeled” he actually just sat on the bench then his pr team came up with this kneeling spin. kaep is not for anyone but himself.

      1. If any team picks up this jerk I will boycot any game that team plays & there will be millions of other fans that will do the same! Fans are fed up with this a hole. If a team picks the jerk up it may put an end to the sport of football!!!

    2. This is why I don’t care for celebs. They’re so dumb. They think singular people are bigger than the real issues. Him playing in the nfl would change absolutely nothing at all. It’s pointless to keep championing someone like him. There’s real shit going on and these people wanna speak about this man like he Malcom X. He’s a football player. So what. He can’t play. Until the league ownership changes. None of that matters. Ur fighting to have a chance within a system u don’t own. And ur fighting to be a player. Lol. Not an owner. Not a boss. A player. The energy is always placed into the wrong places.

    3. Shows how mindless we are. We follow movements and not purpose. The media creates the energy behind a narrative and we think we woke for addressing every single thing that comes on the radar. And most of it is stupid shit that serves no purpose for the greater good. Or for just real people. Sports is the least of our worries!! Lol

    4. But I thought it was slavery? So he wants to get back into slavery lol. This is why I don’t follow celebs. Just seem like a butch of hypocrites. Plus wasn’t he an average player. His stats are nothing special.

    5. The race grift money must be runnin dry. Thought the NFL was slavery? You hate this damn country so much that you killed all of your opportunities to play. Got a better chance at flippin some burgers than tossin around the ol pig skin.

    6. Every comment section about Kaep,
misquotes and hate. Y’all are pitiful. The internet really gives a platform for low comprehension and cognitive functioning people. Trump set you clowns free, you don’t have to leave snide remarks. If you don’t like black people just say that.

      1. I live black people. I think idiots like this guy and Smollet create division ,,racism and are an embarrassment to the US and to their race. The IS is systematically racist? He was adopted by a who’re family and became a millionaire playing sports. How many of the chosen pulled that off in Germany 80 years ago, or in South Africa during Aparteid? LOL. Go fuck yourself victim boy. I’m here from another country and have bought a home and gotten a college education Thru working hard. Anyone can. I’m a Latino from a country with a larger black population than the US. We collectively laugh at you clowns.

    7. Free Kap! My man better than every back up and low end starters In the league still to this day. He’s a true legend like Ali. The awareness he brought for the voiceless, probably saved lives in the process. Had Michael Jordan speak up. I don’t care if you never play another down, you always be a hero in my eyes.

      1. The awareness to violence? LOL. Idiot. Fuck the police by NWA came out in the late 80’s. Public Enemy still exists. Don’t chime in on shit dumb dumb. You probably believe Jussie’s story right? LOL. Did he mention the violence in South Side Chicago? More people killed there a year than all mass shootings combined. He could really help end violence against black men on that one. Ignoramus.

    8. He simply was at the end of his career when he pulled this nonsensical bullshit. Basically Jusse Smollet. Every second string player that plays his position will out ball him now. He had 2 OK to mediocre seasons his first 2 years in. It was a downhill slide since then. This clown talked about systematic racism in the US. He was adopted by a middle class WHITE familiar them went on to become a MILLIONARE sue to his ability to play sports. Sounds real racist to me. He then compares tge NFL to slaaayyyvery. Volunteer bondage where there are literally thousands competing for one spot? The ones who make it create generational wealth that their grandkids will enjoy? What a fucking clown. He himself admits that he never has been violated by the police. SMH. Colin Smollet.

    9. A player that is worse than any backup on any team that plays his position. Over 5 years not playing. Compared the NFL to slavery. Now he wants to be on your team. Why wouldn’t you pick him? SMH.
