Irv Gotti was a recent guest on The Breakfast Club where he chopped it up with Angela Yee and DJ Envy about what he’s currently working on — including his BET show, TALES.
During the conversation, Gotti revealed he has a major surprise for his loyal viewers and it appears to involve new music from Kanye West.
“I gotta say something,” Gotti said around the 39-minute mark. “So, the normal things is how we do TALES is I take existing songs and turn it into movies So the season premiere — July 2 — will be a two-hour season premiere of a brand new record produced by me and my production partner 7 [Aurelius] from a huge, huge, huge artist.
“I won’t name the artist. You’ll find out in a week or two.”
As the Breakfast Club duo probed Gotti for details, Ja Rule — who was at the Power 105.1 studios — confirmed it’s an artist from the Midwest.
Gotti added, “Controversial! The biggest, hugest artist who’s been the most controversial in the last year.”
Envy hopped in and said, “Ok, Kanye West is gonna be on the season premiere of TALES” to which Gotti replied, “I didn’t say it! But let’s say it right. He’s not acting in it, but maybe I have a song … Envy is a fucking genius!”
Gotti first hinted he was working on something with ‘Ye in November 2017.
“When 2 people like me and Kanye get together. Hip Hop is about to get something enormous,” Gotti wrote on Instagram. “Like enormous. 2 crazy. Out of the box thinkers. That only thinks about serving the world!!
“Hahah. Stay Tuned. Great great great meeting of the minds. Like i told him. We have to take a pic of this. #kanyeandgotti shout out to @godsmessenger Thank You My Nigga.”
TALES premieres on July 2 on BET.
