Irv Gotti’s record label, Murder Inc., which later shortened itself to The Inc., is probably one of the most epic rise-and-fall stories in Hip Hop history. What began in an early iteration as a three man group consisting of Ja Rule, DMX, and Jay-Z, became a chart-topping, Def Jam distributed behemoth that sold millions upon millions of records during its height.
Unfortunately, after losing its footing as the result of a violent feud — on and off wax — with 50 Cent and his G-Unit camp and IRS trouble, among other things, the label saw decline in both relevance and power post-2003. After losing the bulk of its artists by 2012, namely Ja Rule, Ashanti, and Lloyd (and even Charli Baltimore), Murder Inc. was for all intents and purposes, done (optically). That is, until today.
Irv Gotti took to his Instagram to announce that the label would be relaunching with a new roster of artists: “Oh and by the way!! I’m about to RE LAUNCH MURDER INC RECORDS!! I got some new artist. New music. Same f*cking MOVEMENT!” In his announcement, he also detailed how his legal situations had forced him to “fall back,” before adding, “My Money is right. And I’m back!! Major Announcements Coming Soon.”
It should be noted that — technically — he already “relaunched” Murder Inc. back in 2013 as an umbrella label under his Visionary imprint. At that point, when Ja was released from prison following a two-year sentence for gun possession and tax evasion, the label released “Fresh Out Da Pen” and “Everything.”

However, Ja Rule — following the most epic failure of his career (and maybe ever) — is far from a hot ticket, so all eyes will be on Irv’s new roster of talent. He did it before, so there’s a very good chance he can see success again.
Irv has also been busy casting for Tales, a show he developed in partnership with BET. Looks like a lot of big things on the horizon.
RESURRECT IT BACK TO THE GROUND!!!! IT’S OVER IRV!!!! JUST LET IT GO!!!!
Dudes have the spot and don’t know what to do with it when they’re there. Instead of doing this shit that’s going nowhere, he should have made sure Murder Inc. came out with a hot song more than once every 20 tracks they dropped. But when you fucking off on that X shit, you tend to overlook the details that you need to stay on top.
Couldn’t have said it any better.
LMAOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Why does Irv look like Bow Wow posing with a jet?
The new Murder Inc roster will be headlining the 2018 Fyre Festival
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In this period in Hip-Hop, you can’t just restart a label off a name (see Tha Row, and Bad Boy records) anymore. But, on the other side of that, you could be a big name in rap if you have a strong roster of talent (TDE chief among them). Welcome back, just don’t overstay your welcome.
Murder inc been dead almost 15 years there’s no coming back 50 bodies them! 50 musically isn’t so big these days but he still poppin and relevant. Rip murder Inc there’s now coming back
How are these comments popping back from the 2000s? Hhdx, you’ve got a bug in your system
The last time you could even say Murder Inc. was on top was 2000. And even then Eminem, Jay-Z, Ruff Ryders, Cash Money, Missy Elliot, Aaliyah, Timbaland & a bunch of others I forgot were more popular on a worldwide level than them
Haha! So is he going to fight DJ khaled for his place? Remember, Irv was the OG Khaled lmao!!!
They would probably still be around if they didn’t run their business into the ground with bad business decisions and starting petty beefs with what were the biggest artists in the industry at the time. People like to talk about Ja Rule as if he was the victim of some kind of mob mentality bullying but I remember him running his mouth about pretty much anyone that shared so much as breathing space with 50 Cent and Irv trying to back him up on it (I have my old The Source magazines where he was being a belligerent assholes in interviews). Fuck ’em, they tanked themselves.
Ja has been confused on who want to be first he bit DMX after getting busted out he tried to be 2 pac and when 50 killed his career and Buster and Em buried him it was over, second time around Irv leave the beefing alone you might last
Fuck murda inc
This the same ninja that was trying to push caddillac tah and black child for 15 years and neither one ever dropped a record. Fuck outta here.. Dudes gonna sign some mumble raps garbage
I can see roc nation as the co sign can’t see this getting by 50 though the whole g unit will tos
Murder Inc. was the most disappointing label back in the day. They had like 5 cats I wanted to hear albums from: Black Child, Cadillac Tah, and Charli Baltimore were the first ones (yes I was curious how vicious Charli would for a full album with Murder Inc. producers, so what?), plus they always had a bunch of background cats who’s names I can’t recall, but there were several of them to be found on each Ja Rule and Murder Inc. compilation release. Then around ’08, they signed a guy named Newz, who was supposed to be their new big talent, then another named D Gift who was featured heavily on Gotti’s reality show and also spit flames, so I thought they might be able to keep the label together AND popular by getting the dudes hot in the streets. I guess the damage 50 did to their reputation was too much, plus by that time the NY sound wasn’t really palatable on a national stage anymore (and arguably still isn’t). I don’t see this going anywhere tbh.
Oh yea I forgot Vita. She sucked, but she was another name from their old days I forgot to mention. I think she did some shit with Black Wall Street after the Inc. didn’t pan out for her, but not sure since there’s no official bio or anything for her anywhere.
Murder Inc never had anybody outside of rule and Ashanti, so no they were never the most talented label. And DJ Irv f’ed up his own record label by trying to be a gangsta
It aint gon last
where snitchy cent at he still aliveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee??? hasnt at a hot song in how longggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg?????
