European electro group Kraftwerk will be releasing a boxed set of their best work on October 6. Spanning four decades, 12345678 The Catalogue features eight different albums from Kraftwerk, who have been direct inspiration to some of America’s most popular acts, not to mention Hip Hop artists.
Considered one of Hip Hop’s most historic and quintessential records since its inception in the late 70’s/early 80’s, AfrikaBambaataa & The Soul Sonic Force’s “Planet Rock” heavily samples Kraftwerk’s “Trans-Europe Express.” Likewise, Jay-Z’s 1997 record “(Always Be My) Sunshine” off of In My Life Time, Vol. 1 samples Kraftwerk’s “Man Machine.”
12345678 The Catalogue will include both of these records, as well as Computer Love, Autobahn, and their most recent album, 2003’s Tour de France Soundtracks.
