The Chicago Sun-Times reports Do or Die‘s [click to read] Belo (government name, Darnell Smith) has been ordered to pay $8 million to the family of Raynard “B-Dog” Pinkston. In 2007, Belo was convicted for the 2002 murder of Pinkston, and the rapper is currently serving a 10-year sentence after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.
Belo made a name for himself as one third of the Chicago group, whose 1996 album Picture This spawned the hit single “Po Pimp.” He re-emerged in 2006 as a soloist and released the album, The Truth. Belo‘s alleged girlfriend, Felicia Hamilton, also faced obstruction of justice charges after a witness in the trial admitted to accepting a bribe from her.
