Former co-host of Wendy Williams’ syndicated radio show and HipHopDX blogger Charlamagne [click to read] has broken his silence on his sudden firing from the New York based radio show.

After making a big splash in the beginning of his budding radio career in South Carolina, Charlamagne will return to his roots, he revealed in a recent interview.

“I will be doing a specialty show with WXBT 100.1 ‘The Beat’ in Columbia,” he told AllHipHop. “I can do that from up here and it will broadcast down there. Radio is like training, [you] have to stay on that bike to keep the conditioning up for when that big fight comes. I didn’t have a non-compete clause, so I am able to work immediately in New York. I’m just weighing out my options right now.”

Regular listeners of “The Wendy Williams Experience” found out about the departure from Williams herself last Thursday. Charlamagne, and a number of other members of the production team were fired from the show.

“I was disappointed in their decision not to have him on the show but I’m not worried about his ability to go on and do very well for himself — he’s a true friend and continues to be an important member of the team and will be on my TV show this summer,”Williams said of her former co-host on air.

WBLS, the station that hosts Williams show, reportedly fired the former staff members in a cost cutting effort.

Despite the WBLS explanation, Charlamagne believes the ouster was personal, but is excited about moving on.

I’ve had more radio job offers in the past two days than I’ve ever had in my whole radio career,” he told SOHH. “I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, man. Like, I feel great, I feel relieved. And we’re going into ’09 and the number nine symbolizes change, and that’s what 09 is, the highest level of change.”
