Nipsey Hussle’s family is mourning the loss of his grandmother Margaret Boutte who helped raise the late rapper alongside his siblings.

Lauren London and Nipsey’s sister Samantha Smith shared the news on their respective Instagram pages with tributes to Ms. Boutte. In London’s post, she shared a photo of Boutte posing amongst a group of flowers, while Smith shared a picture of herself and Nip in the younger days celebrating their grandmother’s 68th birthday.

“Forever Honored. Granny Gran,” London wrote while Smith said, “My Angels.”

Boutte recently saw her grandson receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in August 2022. She shared words about the late rapper at the podium and reflected on seeing him grow up and achieve all the success he did before passing away in March 2019.

“Nipsey was the love of my life, always very respectful,” Boutte said. “I miss him, but I look at his picture and remember all the wonderful times we had together. I thank my daughter for blessing me with Nipsey and [his siblings] Sami and Samantha. I love you all. He will never be gone in my heart. He lives forever.”

She also had positive words for Nipsey’s killer Eric Holder who gunned down the rapper in front in front of his Marathon clothing store.

“I’m praying for him too. I hope he does not get killed in custody. Have enough time to ask God for forgiveness,” Boutte said. “I’m Catholic, I do believe in prayer, and I’m praying for him. He was a young, ignorant situation, and I’m hoping he’s sorry for what he did.”

Nipsey spoke about his grandmother on DJ Khaled’s Grammy Award-winning song “Higher,” also featuring John Legend. The song finds Nip detailing his family’s beginning starting with his grandmother giving birth to his uncle but going through various miscarriages before having his mother.
