It seems that Universal Pictures, along with Misher Films, have stepped up to Russell Simmons and acquired the movie rights to his new autobiography “Russell Simmons, Life and Def: Sex, Drugs, Money and God”. The book is an excellent read and it will be interesting to see the Hollywood spin on Russell’s life.

What is most ironic is Russell’s continuous mentions, throughout the book, off his bad experiences in Hollywood. I wonder if this experience is poised to go sour as well. This would be the second film that chronicles Russell’s life, the first being “Krush Groove”, Russell’s first venture into Hollywood.

Look for the review of the book “Russell Simmons, Life and Def: Sex, Drugs, Money and God” on HipHopDX in March.

Note: Russell Simmons was a co-founder of Def Jam, created Def Comedy on HBO and the Phat Farm clothing line…among other projects.
