Charlamagne Tha God has shared his thoughts on the glorification of murder in today’s rap music, comments that come shortly after the murder of PnB Rock earlier in September.
During The Breakfast Club‘s ‘Rumor Report’ segment, Charlamagne was ruminating on the recent burglary of Tee Grizzley’s home in Los Angeles, and used Grizzley’s salute to PnB Rock and King Von to further comment on MC’s glorification of street life.

“There is absolute power in the tongue which is why it does confuse me when I hear artists, you know send out rest in peace’s to people but then continue to glorify and celebrate the same lifestyle that ultimately led to these people that they’re saying R.I.P’s to … so it’s just interesting,” he said.

Grizzley’s comments were made in an Instagram post, in which he reassured his fans that he and his loved ones were safe after thieves broke into his Los Angeles home and made off with over $1 million worth of jewelry and cash.
“I appreciate everyone reaching out and checking on me and shit,” Grizzley said on IG. “I’m good and my family good, thank God! I just need y’all to do one thing for me though, man, send a prayer up for PnB Rock and his kids, King Von and his kids, and all the kids that gotta grow out here without their pops. And I had to grow up without my pops because he was killed and that shit ain’t easy at all.”

He then turned his attention to the power of words and said rappers need to be more aware of what is spoken into existence.
“We gotta watch what we speaking into existence, man,” he continued. “I know we looking at it like it’s art, but these words is powerful, bro. Just like we could speak some good shit into existence, we can speak some bad shit into existence, so we gotta be real careful about what we saying when we make this music. Speak in third-person and create some characters.”

Tee Grizzley’s Porter Ranch home was robbed on the same night he was celebrating his engagement to the mother of his child, My’Eisha Agnew. The couple threw a party after getting engaged in January and fortunately, nobody was home at the time.
The Detroit rapper’s comments come after PnB Rock was shot and killed on September 12 while dining at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles. LAPD Captain Kelly Muniz told the Los Angeles Times that when the suspected shooters entered Roscoe’s, they immediately pulled out a firearm and demanded jewelry from the rapper.
Tee Grizzley Gets Married To Mother Of His Child
According to TMZ, the LAPD is currently sifting through the Philadelphia rapper’s past to see if he had any enemies who may have planned the fatal shooting. They’re reportedly looking into Rock’s hometown of Philly, as well as Atlanta where he spent a good amount of time, as they attempt to determine whether he had any feuds.
The LAPD are even examining his lyrics for clues to who the killer might be, and are looking through security footage from inside the restaurant to hopefully identify a suspect.

PnB Rock’s brother, PnB Meen took to Instagram a few days after the rapper’s death and claimed that getting his brother returned to his Philadelphia hometown had been a strenuous process because of the ongoing murder investigation.
“We been having trouble getting my brother back to Philadelphia,” PnB Meen wrote on Instagram. “The state of Los Angeles claiming they have some type of law, going against our as Muslims. Now I have no clue when his Janazah. It’s not right, yo. It’s goin on a week. Prayers up. I got you bro an ya daughters.”

The post has since been deleted, and PnB Rock’s body was supposedly in transit on Friday (September 16), though that has not been confirmed.
