What if we told you that Hustle and Flow and Crash never should’ve happened—at least without Terrance Howard’s participation? The actor now says his critically acclaimed career was nearly derailed before the train left the station by Bill Cosby.

At 19, Howard landed a role on The Cosby Show—just his second audition in New York, but was eventually cut from the show.

“I was 19 and had just moved to New York from Cleveland, I got on ‘The Cosby Show’ on my second audition ever,”Howard told WENN.

After being cut, Howard confronted Cosby about the situation.

“I told him, ‘I’m a man just like you.’ He didn’t like it, and the casting agent never took my calls again.”

Howard says the incident led to a four year hiatus.

Bill Cosby has not commented on the allegations.
