Rolling Loud Miami got off to a rocky start on Friday (July 22) when newly booked headliner Kid Cudi ended his set after fans threw various items at him, including a water bottle. On Saturday (July 23), the company issued a formal statement on social media, asking for peace.
“Rolling Loud is a family,” the statement began. “Our fans, the artists, and everyone involved need to look out for each other. Share the love and be respectful to everyone. We love you, Cudi. Please take care of each other and let’s have an amazing day 2!”
Kid Cudi was added as the festival’s Friday headliner when Kanye West backed out without giving a formal explanation. In turn, he became the first performer to ever pull out of a Rolling Loud show despite months of planning by the Rolling Loud team.
In a cruel twist of fate, Ye did show up onstage in Miami as a surprise guest of Lil Durk, performing “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1,” a song originally featuring Kid Cudi on the chorus.

Cudi, however, took the stage in earnest on Friday but a select few people in the crowd weren’t in the mood to see him. In a video shared on social media, Cudi tells the crowd he would abandon the show if one more item was thrown his way.
“If I get hit with one more fucking thing, if I see one more fucking thing on this fucking stage I’m leaving,” he said, only for a member of the crowd to oblige him and throw a water bottle in his direction. Right on cue, Cudi walks off stage while the audience boos him. In a video uploaded to Reddit, the fan in question who threw the bottle can be seen tossing the item at Cudi, forcing the walk-off.
Rolling Loud Miami concludes Sunday (July 24) with a headlining performance from Kendrick Lamar and appearances from Lil Baby, Kodak Black, Baby Keem and A$AP Ferg, among others.
