Las Vegas, NV

Ma$e was one of many artists booked to perform at the Lovers & Friends Festival in Las Vegas on Saturday (May 14), but it didn’t go exactly as planned. Numerous technical difficulties plagued his set and after attempting to perform “Mo Money Mo Problem” — his 1997 hit with The Notorious B.I.G. and Diddy — the sound was cut off for roughly 10 minutes.

The veteran rapper soon suggested Diddy was behind the sabotage, telling the crowd, “I see what’s going on. I’m used to being hated on. I’m used to what’s going on. Somebody, somewhere paid a few dollars to stop my show. But that can’t stop somebody like me. I don’t get ran away too easy. I just wasn’t ready for that, so I’m gonna take my time.”

Ma$e took it a step further and blatantly called out Diddy who he believed was behind the difficulties he experienced during the show. Diddy, of course, was in Sin City to host the 2022 Billboard Awards, which he executive produced.

“Thank you Puff, you know he paid for that right?” he said. “I got you n-gga. I heard you loud and clear.”

Ma$e was signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy Records label in the late 1990s, but their relationship has soured over the years. In March, the Harlem native dropped a Diddy diss track called “Oracle 2: The Liberation Of Mason Betha” in which he accuses Diddy him of exploiting Biggie’s death.

“Yeah, I’m just a Harlem n-gga reppin’ down a Vegas strip with my own Suge,” he rapped. “You from Mt. Vernon, n-gga, go and rep your own hood/I’m not hating on your Billi worth/Right now, I’m only saying what you really work/You ain’t no architect/You just a n-gga who know how to market death.”

The 46-year-old MC later explained why he decided to diss Diddy in an Instagram Live video, saying, “When I see the hurt and the pains of other people on Bad Boy that motivates me to say something so I don’t be deemed as a person who just made a bunch of money and turned a blind eye. I’m not gonna be like the rest of the people around Puff that don’t tell him he’s wrong. I’m not gonna be like the yes men around him that seem him ruining people’s lives and never tell him he’s wrong.”

Ma$e Trashes Diddy On 'Oracle 2: The Liberation of Mason Betha' Diss Track

But Ma$e’s issues with Diddy stretch back years. In 2020, he explained why he’s lost respect for Diddy in a since-deleted Instagram post and said he even attempted to buy back his masters for $2 million, but Diddy refused.

“Your past business practices knowingly has continued purposely starved your artist and been extremely unfair to the very same artist that helped u obtain that Icon Award on the iconic Bad Boy label,” he wrote at the time. “For example, u still got my publishing from 24 years ago in which u gave me $20k. Which makes me never want to work w/ u as any artist wouldn’t.”
