Broward County rapper Ace Hood and Run The Jewels MC Killer Mike are keeping the memory of deceased artists such as Nipsey Hussle and Young Dolph alive in the video for their “Greatness” collaboration.
On Wednesday (May 4), Ace Hood shared a clip of the video, which features portraits of Nipsey Hussle, Dolph Flippa and other influential Black public figures. Hood also took a moment to explain to his 1.2 million Twitter followers the deeper meaning behind his Killer Mike-assisted anthem.
“#GREATNESS is a reminder as a black man, father, artist, and human that, regardless of society’s dream, we all are born with a specific greatness unique to who we are. It’s up to oneself to do the work and connect with that higher frequency,” Ace Hood wrote.
The visual, which also follows his “Glory” single, marks an uptick in activity for Ace Hood, who just delivered his M.I.N.D. (Memories Inside Never Die) album — that includes Killer Mike’s guest verse on “Greatness” as the lone feature throughout the 10-track effort. Aside from his “Little Light” offering, 2021 was particularly quiet for the Florida native, who delivered both his Self Preservation EP and Mr. Hood album the year prior.

Ace Hood did, however, spend a great deal of time last year putting on for his incarcerated rap counterpart YNW Melly, via his partnership with Spotify and Complex, to host the Infamous: The Story of YNW Melly podcast, which dives into the events surrounding Melly’s double-murder case.
