Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def Recordings will premiere their first film, “On the Come Up At the Source Awards”, at Sean “Puffy” Combs’ Justin’s restaurant in New York City next Wednesday.

Produced by So So Def and the Atlanta-based Strange Fruit Films, On the Come Up At the Source Awards is the first in a series of three reality-based films set in the entertainment and hip-hop world. The offbeat documentary-style film follows three New York women who use their looks, charm, and hustling skills to accomplish a series of explicit tasks that will win them entrance into the 2000 Source Awards in Los Angeles.

On the Come Up features appearances by Marlon Wayans, Tyson Beckford, Jagged Edge, Da Brat, Kid Capri, and Jermaine Dupri, among others. The film will be available on April 10th on both VHS and DVD and will be distributed by Ventura Distribution under the UrbanWorks banner.

“The idea for the film was to take all of this reality programming like ‘Survivor,’ ‘Real World,’ and ‘Road Rules’ and flip it into something that reflects urban culture,” On the Come Up’s executive producer, Jermaine Dupri, said in a statement. “On the Come Up is a fly idea and perfect because of our desire to get into film and TV.”
