There will always be a conversation about who the best rapper in New York City is at the moment. That debate gets taken to another level when people start to consider the real leaders of New York rap.

During his recent visit to Akademiks podcast show, Off The Record, Fivio Foreign gave his picks for the five rappers who are the faces of the city. It was no secret that Fivi would include himself, but there was one questionable selection given the rapper just started blowing up.

“Me, Lil TJay, Kay Flock, Bobby [Shmurda], Rowdy [Rebel],” Fivio told Akademiks. “Kay Flock locked up, you know what I mean.”

Akademiks was taken aback by Kay Flock’s inclusion on the list, but Fivio reiterated his peer should be there and gave him advice once he gets out of jail.

“When he come home, he going to have to do the same thing I did,” Fivio added. “Now you gotta expand and make the global shit plus the core shit and just go viral. That’s how you gotta do it.”

The social media personality agreed that if Kay Flock beats his ongoing murder case, he can become a global star. Kay Flock just found his footing in the rap scene when he was taken into custody and charged on December 23 for killing Oscar Hernandez in front of a barbershop in Harlem, New York, on the morning of December 16.

Kay Flock’s attorney released a statement confirming the rapper was charged with the murder but explained they would be doing a private investigation after the NYPD allegedly received a tip that someone else was the shooter.

Kay Flock Attorney Speaks Out Following Murder Charge As Different Video Angle Hits Internet

“Yesterday, I accompanied Kevin as he self-surrendered to Detectives in the 30th precinct,” Flock’s attorney Scott Leemon wrote in the statement. “Arrangements were immediately made with NYPD once I learned he was wanted.

“As for the charges levied against him, we have begun our own investigation into these allegations. More importantly, considering the DA’s significant disclosure this morning that the NYPD received a tip saying someone else is the shooter, we demanded the DA’s office provide prompt disclosure of the videos referenced in the complaint and more information on the tip.”
