Rappers are starting to heavily get involved in the NFT crypto world. Meek Mill announced last November that his next project would be an NFT mixtape, and Snoop Dogg announced on February 15 that he’d soon transition Death Row Records into the first-ever NFT label. While the NFT world is leading to exciting new opportunities for many of today’s biggest artists, Polo G is one rapper not too keen on getting involved in the crypto wave.
“Idk if I could really get into that NFT shit for real,” Polo wrote on Twitter on Monday (February 21). “But if you see me change my pfp to a monkey don’t start dickridin…or ape whatever it is.” Polo was likely referring to the Bored Ape NFT, which Post Malone, Lil Baby, Gunna and others have paid thousands for in order to use as their profile pictures.
The Chicago lyricist recently dropped Hall of Fame 2.0 last December, which served as the sequel to his blockbuster Hall of Fame project. Akademiks revealed the sequel only ended up selling 79,000 units its first week, which Polo blamed on a leak that happened earlier in December. While the leak was a bummer, Polo said he was unphased because of crazy new music he has in the works with 808Mafia’s Southside.
