The non-fungible token (NFT) business is booming — but don’t expect Ice Cube to hop on the bandwagon anytime soon. On Wednesday (February 2), someone tweeted a meme of The Notorious B.I.G., Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg and Eminem looking like Renaissance paintings and wrote, “found this dope pic on my old phone and my first thought was ‘I wish this was a NFT collection. 10/10 would mint.”

Ice Cube retweeted the photo and replied, “No thank you. I actually hate this fake ass shit. Making me a part of their bullshit is insulting. Leave me out.”

Ice Cube’s remarks are similar to Kanye West’s recent sentiments on the subject. On January 31, the G.O.O.D. Music founder took a hiatus from his self-imposed iPhone break to explain why he would never participate in the trendy digital artform — at least not now.

“My focus is on building real products in the real world,” he wrote in Sharpie marker. “Real world real food real shelter. Do not ask me to do a fucking NFT. Ye ask me later.”

He added in the caption, “STOP ASKING ME TO DO NFT’s I’M NOT FINNA CO-SIGN … FOR NOW I’M NOT ON THAT WAVE I MAKE MUSIC AND PRODUCTS IN THE REAL WORLD.”

Considering how popular NFTs have become over the last year, Kanye West and Ice Cube seem to be two of the only artists who aren’t exploring that world. In January, Wu-Tang Clan’s longtime DJ/producer Mathematics announced his new NFT collection dubbed “The Man Behind The W.”

The collection boasts over 11,111 unique pieces with 200 character traits and six different breakouts, but Mathematics led with “No Pork On My Fork.”

“When I did the Hulu show, the first thing they showed before they showed me is my black book,” he said in an interview with HipHopDX. “And in the first page, we opened my black book, it was the first thing that was on there because I wasn’t going to put no swine in my book. So before I move forward, it’s like, none of that is in here. Everything in here is going to be righteous. So, basically, that’s what I’m saying about this collection that’s coming — there’s no swine here. You ain’t gotta worry about that here.”
