Dame Dash caught a win when he helped produce the 2002 cult classic film Paid In Full. The movie was based on Harlem drug lords Rich Porter, Alpo Martinez and Azie “AZ” Faison’s time running the streets of New York City in the 1980s. It’s been over 20 years since the original hit theaters and fans who were hoping for a sequel may get their wish very soon.

Last week, Dame Dash told AllHipHop in an exclusive interview he is getting ready to start filming Paid In Full 2. According to Dame, the film will begin shooting in Newark, New Jersey and will dig deeper into the story of Harlem’s relationship with hustling in the late 80s-early 90s.

“It’s what happens after [they] put all that work on the street, and somebody had to get that money back,” Dash said. “There’s a lot of perspectives that people don’t know. We chose three, really one. Now I’m showing all perspectives. So you’ll see a perspective from the stickup kids at the time, see a perspective of the younger dudes, I was a younger dude, the 16-year-olds. You’ll see perspectives from Kevin Childs, Jay Black, everybody, Lou Simms. It’s going to be off the hook. Trust me. A lot of other little stories will be told.”

Kevin Chiles, Jay Black and Lou Simms were all former Harlem drug kingpins who ran the streets of Harlem at the height of the crack epidemic. Paid in Full starred Cam’ron, Wood Harris and Mekhi Phifer as Rico, Ace and Mitch, who were inspired by Alpo, AZ and Porter, respectively. It grossed over $3 million worldwide and had a stellar soundtrack with songs from Cam’ron, JAY-Z, Master P and more.

This isn’t the first time news of a Paid In Full sequel hit the internet. In May 2020, Cam’ron revealed in an Instagram Live session that talks had kicked off regarding production for Paid In Full 2.

Cam’ron Says ‘Paid In Full 2’ Conversations Have Started

“These are conversations that we talked about in the last few months,” he said. “Actually, a couple hours ago, something we talked about [was] pertaining [to] Paid In Full 2. I don’t wanna say 100 percent yes, but we’re definitely in the talks about doing something similar to Paid In Full 1 … It’s definitely a conversation going on right now about that, 100 percent.”
