The Hip Hop and fashion communities continue to mourn the untimely passing of legendary fashion designer Virgil Abloh. The Off-White CEO and artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear lost a private battle with cancer on Sunday (November 28).
One of Virgil’s good friends in the music industry was Kid Cudi, and the Moon Man recently took to his Twitter account to share the last text message he had with the late visionary.
“Our last text was Saturday morning. Im glad I got to tell u how I felt about u. Im happy u didnt leave here not knowing. I love you Virg FOREVER,” Cudi wrote in the caption.
In the text thread, Cudi hit up Virgil about Art Basel in Miami, Florida being “a feature film n-gga,” which led the designer to reply with a “MAJORRRRRR” and “action movie.” Cudi then texted Virgil a few days later, asking what ideas he had in mind about outfits for the show. He followed that with a text regarding how thankful he is for their friendship.

“Hope u had a great Thanksgiving w/ the fam!” Cudi wrote. “So thankful to have in my life. Love u brother.”
“Mad love for you my G,” Virgil responded. “Did you get a fitting time yet?”
“Not yet!! But they sent the fit. Shits fire,” Cudi said, ending the conversation.
The outfit Cudi was talking about with Virgil could have been the one he wore to the designer’s memorial event on Tuesday (November 30) at Art Basel in Miami, Florida. The Louis Vuitton “Virgil Was Here” Spring/Summer 2022 collection showcase had guests from the music and fashion industry come together to remember the icon.

While walking the runway, Cudi wore a lime green fleece jacket with matching flowing pants and green hair. The moment was full circle for Kid Cudi as he also walked at Virgil’s first Louis Vuitton show in 2018.
