DaBaby Forgiven By LGBTQ Organization For Rolling Loud Comments

DaBaby is no longer “canceled” having sufficiently redeemed himself for his controversial comments at Rolling Loud Miami in July — according to one LGBTQ organization, anyway.

Gwendolyn D. Clemons, CEO of Relationship Unleashed, told TMZ on Tuesday (November 2) that she and her colleagues have forgiven the North Carolina rapper for his homophobic and sexist remarks, believing he’s come a long way since then.

Clemons also gave DaBaby’s recent return to Rolling Loud her blessing, along with any future concerts he’s got lined up. The Blame It On Baby hitmaker was brought out as a special guest during 50 Cent’s headlining set at Rolling Loud New York last Thursday (October 28).

Relationship Unleashed was one of the numerous LGBTQ and HIV-awareness organizations DaBaby met with following the widespread backlash to his Rolling Loud rant, which saw him dropped from several festivals and endorsements.

Gwendolyn D. Clemons says they educated DaBaby about HIV/AIDS, including how the spectrum of conditions affect people in his native Charlotte, North Carolina. According to her, the information “resonated” with the 29-year-old rapper.

Clemons believes DaBaby‘s initial comments from a place of ignorance, but he now has a newfound perspective on such issues.

Relationship Unleashed aren’t the only name to support DaBaby amid the Rolling Loud controversy. 50 Cent, T.I., Boosie Badazz, NLE Choppa and Kanye West (who featured the NC native on his latest album Donda) have also sided with him.

DaBaby has still faced plenty of criticism from his peers, though, with the likes of Questlove, Azealia Banks, Megan Thee Stallion and Amber Rose condemning him to varying degrees.

DaBaby Apologizes For 9 HIV-Awareness Organizations To End Rolling Loud Fallout

The uproar stemmed from DaBaby telling the Rolling Loud Miami crowd on July 25, “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases, that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up.”

“Ladies, if your pussy smell like water, put your cellphone light in the air,” he continued. “Fellas, if you ain’t sucking dick in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.”

One figure Relationship Unleashed aren’t so quick to forgive, however, is Dave Chappelle. Gwendolyn D. Clemons describes the comedian’s recent Netflix special, The Closer, as “hate speech disguised as comedy” and claims he’s shown no empathy or remorse amid accusations of being transphobic.

    1. That’s because despite initially defending himself (badly) and having a few other terrible defenders like TI and Boosie HypocriticalAzz (who thinks about Lil Nas X 24/7), he learned to keep his mouth shut. It’s just like the criticism he got for being colorist. His ego gets way too high and he needed to be reminded (again) that he needs to come back down to Earth and stop saying foolish things.

    2. Does anyone else see the issue with this? Why is a LGBTQ org granting someone the right to perform live? I understand if venues prohibit certain live acts for PR issues, but why should a non-judicial organization be able to bar someone from live performances when no laws were broken. Being cancelled is not a legal conviction. I’m not condoning his actions, but you are not the law. Funny how everyone seems to have an issue with power, until they can use it in their favor.

      1. They never stopped him from performing. Re-read. They were one of the groups he met with as part of his PR campaign to build back his image. Now their CEO is publicly showing support for him again, which will make it easier for people to choose to forget about what he said in the past. They’re definitely trying flex some power. Not sure how much influence this group has. And it’s possible this was all coordinated and they’re just the first of a few orgs to make positive statements about him along some agreed upon timeline. The 990s will tell the story one day.

      2. It’s their organization. They can support or push away anyone they want, just like how many of you here like to say that these goons can say and support whatever they want since it’s their platform. If you say something that’s obviously meant to offend, they have the right to no longer support or work with you. Simple.

    3. He was wrong to say what he said. I’m sure when he thought about all the people in his corner and who he might have let down when he was popping off onstage he was very remorseful. So folks have accepted his apology as they feel it’s sincere. Good too see.

    4. DaBozo goes to Dubai and gets a bag and now the LGBTQ Orginzation forgives DaBozo…someone got paid.

    5. I’m so sick of the LGBTQABCDEF community crying every time their feelings are hurt! This whole mess made me listen to Da Baby’s music even more.
