Young Thug’s glow-up has been something to pay attention to over the years. The Atlanta native came from being a promising young rapper out of Zone 3 to one of the most popular trendsetting people in the culture. With extensive résumés in the music and fashion worlds, Thugga is looking to expand his eclectic creativity into the film industry.

Young Thug will be starring alongside Tiffany Haddish and Shahadi Wright Joseph in a new movie titled Throw It Back. It won’t be Thugga’s first role on a screen either, as he had a guest role on Lil Dicky’s hit FX show, Dave in 2020.

According to a press release, the film is a “dance-filled musical that follows Wytrell, a high school senior who has never stood out from the crowd. After a controversial superstar Miami rapper decides to feature the renowned dance team from her high school in his latest music video, it throws the school into chaos, and Wytrell battles for a spot on the squad and her final chance to be in the spotlight.”

It’s unclear what role Young Thug will play in the movie, but it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if he’s cast as the controversial Miami rapper. Thugga will also be executive producing the film’s soundtrack while supervising to ensure it’s the perfect companion to Throw It Back

Young Thug grabbing a movie role couldn’t come at a better time. The “Ski” rapper is riding high off the success of his Slime Language 2 compilation. The album debuted at No. 1, and according to the YSL leader, the recording sessions for Slime Language 2 were eventful.

“It seemed like a show,” Young Thug told Zane Lowe for Apple Music’s New Music Daily. “It seemed like a Lollapalooza, Coachella. It just seemed like a show. Every moment was performing. Those was more a performance. You got to show up. You know what I’m saying? Everybody’s watching there. Everybody here. Everybody in your shit. Everybody in your face, you got to show up. It just felt like that. Every moment.”
