After a year that was legally woeful for rapper DMX, 2008 opened with some more unpleasant news. On Friday morning, a Baltimore, Maryland court where DMX was scheduled, but failed to appear, a judge ordered him to pay $1.5 million to a woman in a twisted paternity case.
The suit over defamation of character, was issued by DMX to 28 year-old Baltimore woman Monique Wayne who claimed, along with testing, that the rapper fathered her child. DMX responded to the claims that he may have been raped, and was unsure he ever had sexual relations with the woman. In those comments, made to Sister2Sister magazine, DMX attacked the defendant’s appearance, admitting she was not “pretty.” Those claims resulted in a $6 million counter-suit, resulting in a $1.5 charge over slander.
No response has been given from the rapper or his spokespeople as of yet.
