Matthew David Hughes, the man arrested for breaking into Eminem’s home last year, was served an enormous loss on Wednesday (April 14). According to a report by Detroit Free PressMacombs County prosecutors convinced a judge to allow evidence that Hughes tried to stalk the Detroit legend months before.

The evidence claimed on June 1, 2019, Hughes was found on a Rochester Hills property that Eminem previously owned. Upon entering the grounds, Hughes rang the doorbell and said he was looking for the rapper.

The home invader was later discovered sleeping in a guest house next to the home. Police also reported Hughes was spotted lurking around another house nearby looking for Eminem earlier that night. Eminem had sold the home in 2017 after purchasing it for $4.8 million in 2003. TMZoriginally reported the 2019 incident.

Hughes found himself in this situation after breaking into Slim Shady’s Detroit home in April 2020. Eminem woke up to Hughes standing behind him and asked the man what he was doing in his home. According to Eminem, Hughes told him he was there to kill him, which led the 8 Mile native to escort the home invader outside the house where a security guard wrestled with him until police arrived.

Richard Glanda, Hughes’ attorney, objected to the 2019 report being accepted as evidence, saying his client going to other houses is unrelated to the case with Eminem. However, the judge granted the motion from prosecutors, who said Hughes’ behavior at the Rochester Hills home reflected his intent and state of mind. Hughes is also facing charges of assaulting a Macomb County Jail deputy last September.
