Houston, TX

Trae Tha Truth is never not holding his city down.

The rapper/philanthropist/all around good guy has opened up the first Bumpboxx store in Houston – a small electronics business that lays claim to being the world’s loudest Bluetooth boombox speakers. Trae has been a friend of the company since its launch five years ago after reaching out early on to help them free of charge – and the relationship has clearly proved fruitful.

Holding the grand opening on Saturday (March 13), the day was declared “Trae the Truth and Bumpboxx Day” by Houston mayor Sylvester Turner – making for the third time he’s received the distinction.

“I just want to say this about this guy,” Turner said, according to local publication Chron. “If you’re in need, Trae the Truth and Relief Gang show up. I don’t care if it’s this city or if you’re down in Louisiana, you name it. He shows up, and he does it without being asked.”

Bumpboxx CFO Glen Takeda also spoke, explaining how their partnership came to be.

“We started five years ago,” Takeda added. “We made a prototype and we posted it on social media. It got 700 DMs that day,” Takeda explained. “Then Trae reached out to us and said ‘You don’t know who I am, but I’m going to help you guys. You don’t even have to pay me or anything.'”
