Lil Durk is doing his part to keep his protégé King Von’s legacy alive by customizing jackets with his portrait on them and paying homage to him in his music. Jeweler Mazza New York posted a glistening King Von pendant to their Instagram on Thursday (January 14), which could have been taken as them portraying Durk as the rightful owner, but the OTF boss clarified it wasn’t his.

“That’s not my weak ass chain,” Durk wrote to Twitter before disowning the chain under an Akademiks post.

The gold chain features a heavy diamond-encrusted pendant that resembles a portrait of Von and even includes distinct details down to his OTF chain, icy watch, fitted cap and a few blond-dyed braids.

After a few outlets picked up the story and Durk responded, the jeweler then apologized hours later and said he never tried to have the pendant come across as being Durk’s.

“I took the Von design down out of respect for the situation,” Mazza wrote. “I posted the design I completed a while back to actually show love to Durk. I never said it was his and media sources said what they wanted to say. Legitimate sources actually contacted me and I told them the scenario.”

He continued, “I have nothing but love for Durk and his craft. In my opinion, the piece was [fire] and would have been a great start to a long-lasting relationship.”

On the music side, Durk’s 2021 is off to a fantastic start as he leads artists across all genres in Billboard Hot 100 placements with eight through two weeks, most of which appeared on his The Voice project. On Friday (January 15), Durk joined Fredo Bang on the “Top” remix while fans patiently wait for him to drop The Voice‘s deluxe edition.
