The movie Pop Smoke filmed before his untimely passing has been given a premiere date.
Focus Features will release the Eddie Huang-directed Boogie on March 5, 2021, according to Deadline. The film centers around Asian-American Queens native Alfred “Boogie” Chin trying to make it to the NBA while dealing with parents who want him to get a scholarship to an elite school, beef on and off the court and more.
In an audition tape that surfaced in June, Pop can be seen flawlessly in character heckling his co-star, which likely means he plays one of Boogie’s on-court detractors.
Just weeks before his murder, Pop told Angie Martinez a little more about his role during an interview on Power 105.1.

“They got me playing some basketball player,” the Brooklyn native proudly revealed. “I got some lines. It’s a nice role. I got a nice check too … I’m going to fuck with the acting.”
The late rap star sadly won’t be able to bask in the moment, nor celebrate the success of his posthumous debut Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon.
