Ice Cube Addresses Social Media Silence Following Donald Trump Fiasco: ‘There Was A Lot Of Poison’

Ice Cube has been comparatively silent on Twitter following the Donald Trump fiasco. Prior to the controversy, the N.W.A legend had been tweeting like a madman but hasn’t been on social media much in the last month.

That changed on Monday night (November 30) when Cube once again found himself a trending Twitter topic after sharing a video of himself addressing his Trump connection. Although he doesn’t specifically mention Trump’s name, it’s abundantly clear he’s talking about Trump’s senior advisor Katrina Pierson blowing the lid off Cube’s behind-the-scenes involvement with the current administration.

“I know a lot people been wondering where I’ve been,” he begins. “I was real active before the election, talking about what’s needed, specifically from the Black community. About 10 days or two weeks before the election, I pushed back all the way pretty much until now because I just fell there was a lot of noise, a lot of poison, lot of people with they own agendas, personal agendas or party agendas. And they really wanted to attack me for what I was doing because it was outside of the line of what they was doing or what they believed need to be done.”

Cube was under fire for most of October due to people being unable to wrap their head around a traditionally anti-government, anti-police rap legend aligning himself with Trump. While Cube initially tried to explain his position and defend the move, he says he ultimately gave up when he realized most people weren’t really listening.

“When you recognize people really don’t want to get to the truth, they just want to perpetuate their own narrative against you, it was time for me to push back because honestly, I don’t really care who’s the president as you can see,” he continued. “I understand that no matter who’s the president you gotta push them to do things for you and your community. So that’s the agenda, to push whatever candidate’s in power, Republican or Democrat, to do what needs to be done. I think we’ve just focused on one party too long.

“Some of us are getting taken care of with that and a lot of the community is not. So I wanna speak up when I see stuff like that. I just believe that when we really look at the problems we going through, it’s bi-partisan and you really trippin’ if you don’t look at both sides of the aisle and push both sides of the aisle to fix the problem. What’s wrong with that? I think we gotta try that ’cause our problems are not being solved.”

Cube went on to say he’s been working tirelessly behind the scenes to modify his Contract with Black America (CWBA) but has chosen to do it away from the public spotlight.

“Social media puts a lot of poison in the air and a lot of people don’t really care about getting to the truth and the real business,” he added. “They just wanna figure out where they don’t agree with you and hit you with it. I understand that game. I’m a big boy. I’m more than a rapper. I know you like to clump us all together when it’s convenient for you and then you don’t give a fuck about us when it ain’t, but it’s cool. At the end of the day, we here to try to make things better for people.”

Ice Cube Told He 'Got Played' For Believing Donald Trump Will Invest $500B In Black Communities

The rapper-turned-movie star then insisted he wasn’t going anywhere and would continue doing what he’s doing to get things done.

“It’s in my heart, so I’m gonna keep doing it,” he concluded. “I feel like it’s a cleansing in our community ’cause the real and fake are separated. All the people who dissed what I was doing, I’m just gonna watch and see what you get out the whole deal. You talking about I was worried about getting some taxes or some shit. Yeah right. Anybody that would go through all this for some fucking taxes is an idiot.  I’m gonna keep doing what I’m doing — behind the scenes, in front of the scenes.”

Still, there are plenty of people who strongly disagree with Cube’s actions and believe he’s just another one of Trump’s pawns. On November 5, journalist Roland Martin replied to one of Cube’s tweets with, “The only problem @icecube is that you didn’t get Trump to put $500 billion of capital in Black communities. It’s a lie. It’s ONE LINE on the cover sheet of his so-called Platinum Plan. No specifics. NOTHING. Bruh, you got played.”

    1. 2020 has been a year of a lot of loss, unthinkable. Including us losing Cube, Wayne, and Kanye in ways that we may never fully know.

      1. Democrats nor Republicans don’t care about blacks. Politicians use us as their political footballs because blacks sell themselves short

      2. ‘we’ lost kanye WAY before 2020, tho… I cant say exactly when [‘we’ lost him], but ‘old’/somewhat ‘stable’ Kanye BEEN gone, I’m sorry; dont shoot the messenger…

      3. shut the fuck up, we about to lose our freedom due to president elect harris about to sell us to china and u worried about a rapper fOH bitchmade nicca lmao

    2. That cube believed Trump would invest 500 billion in black communities is just plain stupid…..unless cube had a different agenda….

      1. Cube was doing a favor for his Big 3 investor, Steve Bannon. Follow the money. Fuck dude talking that pro black shit like he cares. He didn’t even seem to know what was in that plan when Roland Martin was reading it to him, just let those white folks use his name for credibility. That’s cool if that’s what you’re going to do, but don’t hide behind they are going to help black people as a front for your fuck shit when Trump and his admin literally cut up programs that helped black businesses all during his time in office, which anyone can easily verify.

    3. Black Americans need to realize that we are at the bottom of the barrel in this country. We are not respected in this country. Politicians use us as their political footballs to gain support and negroes become elated when politicians cozy up to us. Blacks need to stop selling themselves short and being used by politicians. Biden and Harris will throw BLM under the bus and distance themselves from them because BLM served its purpose. BLM was used, but that’s what politicians do and dummies still drink their Kool-Aid

    4. Cube’s problem wasn’t “independent thinking” or “trying to help” or even “working with Trump or anyone that will help my people”. Cube’s problem remains his like of common sense and understanding…

When Cube talked about his “platinum plan” on podcasts and shows with Black Women hosting, he got mad when they’d ask him “do you have anything in the plan about healthcare, prenatal care or issues specific to Black Women?” He talked down to Black Women and accused them of whining, just like White Conservatives accuse Black People—Men and Women—of whining.

Cube believed Trump. Trump has been a proven liar for over a decade. His word is worthless unless it’s about energizing bigots. Cube believed Trump would invest $500 Billion in the Black community over 3 years?

$500 Billion for all 39 Million African American citizens spread out over 3 years? That works out to a little over $120 Billion a year for 39 million people, or roughly 11,400 for every Black Man WOman and Child. Per month, it’s less than $3,000. If we’re talking cash terms, America spends more money on housing prisoners. We spend more equipping cops.

Cube believed Trump would invest more money in average Black people than in police officers? Or prisons? Or building his damn wall?

Cube didn’t listen. he just wanted to look smart. And he got played. Now he looks dumb. And based on his post, he still hasn’t learned.

          1. Im not disrespecting blacks, I’m talking about reality when it comes to blacks and politics. Blacks are used by politicians. Republicans and Democrats do not respect blacks when it comes to politics. We have to accept the fact that we are scum to them. The Platinum Plan was janother welfare program for blacks. We need to get out of this dependent mindstate. It’s 2020 and we’re still asking Massa for help

      1. Flat out lie. Cube was mad he kept being interrupted by a bunch on uncouth, ratchet women on the “show.” Black women are included in his plan. Despite what the white media has told you, black women are not a separate race. Also, giving money to hospitals for Black women’s issues will not solve medical institutional racism. We have tried that: giving money to white folks to help black folks doesn’t work.

    5. Why are people going after Cube for standing up for what he believes!? Can’t help but feel for him because he’s putting the truth in people’s faces so that they can better themselves for the future yet they choose to allow social media and people will selfish agendas to turn them the other way. The election is over now and something tells me they have already been forgotten about like yesterday s news. They’re likely to be as miserable as they always have been.

      1. Oh he believed it, alright. He really believed that Trumps $500 billion Mickey Mouse cheque was for real. That halfwit truly believed that Trump, with 30.000 lies on record, was gonna stop lying just because now the Great Ice Cube was doing it all for the black race, and right before an all-balls-out election. The guy who called that Rittenhouse sociopath a patriot and BLM a bunch of terrorists. THAT is who he goes to to beg for the black race. Cube’s an idiot.

        1. Kick ass man! Now please layout the plan of what racist, dementia having Joe Biden will do for Black America. Also do tell what your hero Barack Obama did?

        2. Nah, I beg to differ my friend. The substance of Cube’s actions was encourage black to become more bold and open minded with exercising their vote for their own benefit. Yes, his gesture may have been underpinned by Trump’s 500 billion dollar promise which was dependent on his re-election but I don’t see how that is any different to what any of the promises that Joe Biden has made. There’s no promise that they will happen either! You also mention Trump having lies on record but Biden is also on record making racist remarks against black people so who’s better for it!? Cube is fighting the stereotype in black communities that voting Republican is the same as selling out. He wants to buck the trend of blacks being used as pawns to win elections before being discarded like used condoms.
