It could be argued that Mos Def is perhaps the most successful rapper to have come from the underground scene in recent years, what with his Black Star and solo albums getting praise from both the media and the streets.

Well now Mos has his sights set on the silver screen, and he may be able to hit that scene just as hard. He has already appeared in the Spike Lee joint Bamboozled, but he will be featured in no less than three big-budget movies in the coming year.

He will appear with mega-stars Halle Berry, Billy Bob Thornton and P. Diddy in Monster’s Ball, as well as in Showtime with equally huge stars Robert DeNiro and Eddie Murphy. Both films will be released next year. Mos has also recently finished shooting for Brown Sugar with Taye Diggs.
