50 Cent Laughs Off T.I.’s Claim He Has More Classic Albums Than Him

Fat Joe recently hosted another episode of his Instagram Live series The Fat Joe Show and this time, he invited T.I. to be his special guest. During their conversation, the age-old debate about classic albums came up and Tip was quick to confidently state he has more classics than 50 Cent.

Joe says in the clip, “Before I talked to you today, I listened to both y’all’s shit and let me tell you something, 50 Cent has some shit,” to which Tip replies, “I love 50! That whole album [2003’s Get Rich Or Die Tryin‘] was jammin’. The whole album, top to bottom. How many songs on that album? About 15? It is a classic album. It is. Even the intro. Everything. Classic. Bro, I got five classics, three if you’re being conservative. I have five classics.”

50, of course, couldn’t help himself and had to share the clip with his 26 million Instagram followers. He wrote in the caption, “The man said he got 5 classics. it’s too early i’m going back to sleep.”

Tip’s catalog consists of 10 studio albums, including his 2001 debut I’m Serious, 2003’s Trap Muzik and 2004’s Urban Legend.

Subsequent albums such as 2006’s King debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling roughly 522,000 copies in its first week. His hot streak continued with 2007’s T.I. Vs. T.I.P. and 2008’s Paper Trail, which both landed at the No. 1 spot upon their release. 2010’s No Mercy broke that streak when it debuted at No. 4 in December of that year.

Meanwhile, 50’s eponymous debut Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ arrived in 2003 with Dr. Dre and Eminem serving as executive producers. The 16-track project made its Billboard 200 entrance at No. 1 and has since been certified 9x-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

His sophomore effort, The Massacre, dropped in 2005 and also hit the chart at No. 1 with roughly 1.15 million copies sold in its inaugural week. At the time, it was the sixth largest opening week for an album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. Fiddy’s third studio album, 2005’s Curtis, debuted at No. 2 on the chart, right behind Kanye West’s third album Graduation.

Over the course of his career, 50 has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and won numerous awards for his contributions to rap, including a Grammy Award, 13 Billboard Music Awards, six World Music Awards, three American Music Awards and four BET Awards.

But these days, 50 is more focused on his television empire and hasn’t released a studio album since 2014’s Animal Ambition. Tip, on the other hand, delivered his latest studio album, Dime Trap, in 2018.

      1. You might not like him or his music, but that man is a diamond selling artist. That Diamond album is by the numbers, a classic album. As much hate as you give it, it’s a freaking classic. This is coming from an LA west Coast head, and I’m sure, in the east, they eat that album up.

    1. Dime Trap is a masterpiece. I can’t believe how ignored it is. Also how stupid do you have to be to not know College Dropout is not only Ye’s first album but one of the greatest debut albums of all time

      1. Overrated wow that’s dumb now 50 overrated as hell but I’m from the south no bias we ain’t riding around listening to 50 jus sayin

    2. I know I’m very much in the minority in saying this , but I actually don’t find get rich or die tryin to be his most enjoyable album to listen to . I loved the album when it came out , but over the long term , I think power of the dollar has more replay value and is very much an underrated classic . In terms of flow and lyrical ability , 50 was also at his peak in power of the dollar , not get rich or die tryin. Just my opinion.

    3. Real talk, 50 got 1 undisputed classic and no debate about any of his other albums… Tip don’t got the diamond plaque, but he got 3 debatable albums! I say Urban Legend and King classics for sure!

    4. Matter of taste – but to be honest each of them have only one classical album in their entire discography and its KING vs. GET RICH OR DIE TRYING. Both albums were their best works and that’s it

      1. Wrong you trippin hard if you think 50 that nice get rich or die tryin a good album but TI catalog way better period song for song TI killing 50 easily

    5. I like 50’s 1st song with the video of the female with the red G unit sweats on , and 21 questions. But everything else sounds like he has a bunch of cotton or something in his mouth. Very hard to listen to. Sorry I really don’t or didn’t like in the club. Some of his material seems rushed, and he was just enabled to put anything out without objectivity. T.I. ‘s music hits every where. North, South, Under ground. anywhere. Not a one trick pony. He has more range, rap fluency, and content. I understand 50 needs to be humbled, but he’s beneath T.I; more interesting would be TI, vs. Lil Wayne.

      1. How you gonna complain about fiddys pronunciation and then come back with t.i.? Lmao ti never pronounces his s’ which im sure is some sorta southern accent but damn it can get annoying.

      1. While I also do thoroughly enjoy GRODT, power of the dollar is a very underrated and under appreciated classic album.

    6. This is no longer a hiphop site just a meeting of the TROLLS! 50 got an all time favorite album in G.R.O.D.T! Its factual none of T.I albums had the commercial success of 50’s 1st album. But T.I has put out banger after banger and release classic album after album. ALOT OF YALL TROLLS ARE BUTT HURT BECAUSE THE SOUTH GOT GOT HIPHOP ON LOCK AND AINT GIVING IT BACK!!!!! More specifically ATLANTA! 50 would loose in a verzuz battle because after the 1st album he just rode the wave.

      1. Yes, the south has hip hop on lock and it has led to the worst group of rappers we have ever seen. Congrats, y’ruined it.

    7. Fif has 2 classic tops thats power of a dollar and GRODT. Tip has at least 3. Trap Muzik, Urban Legend, King. Thats about it. He can use his feat to help him but ones from the south the other is from the East Coast so its really not in the same category. Maybe put t.i. against wayne?

    8. Niggas conveniently forget half of Game’s Documentary album was supposed to be on the Massacre. Even without those songs, take off Build you up, Disco Inferno and So Amazing, and it’s just as good as GRODT. That said…T.I.’s catalog IS stronger, somehow both of these dudes don’t get the flowers they deserve because of all the dumb shit they’ve done lately…
