Lil Marlo’s friends, family and fans are still reeling over his sudden death. The Quality Control rapper was shot and killed over the weekend while driving on a Georgia’s Interstate 285 towards the city’s downtown area. Labelmate and collaborator Lil Baby isn’t taking the news lightly.

Judging by a recent Instagram post, Marlos’s murder emotionally drained him but helped finally released the dam of tears he’d been collecting for over eight years.

“Dam Thug !! You kno what come with this shit that’s why I battle myself with straddling the fence !!” he wrote in the caption. “It’s like don’t to much good come out this street shit few niggas get away but you don’t hear about them that often !! Streets a stepping stool to the next level !! I say that to say I’m fucced up bout Yung ru but at the same time I’m so familiar with this shit I find myself numb!! Ain cried in like 8 yrs !!

“I thought I couldn’t no more … this one hit me hard .. Marlo was a gangster an sometimes death comes with that I want all the people who look up to me or even admire what I’m doing to understand an kno what come with this ‘gangster shit’ if that’s how you living … shit hurts bad ..I just talked to you right before this shit happen I can’t never forget the times we had I just hate this shit went all bad .. luv ya 4eva thug !! #staydangerous.”

According to the Atlanta Police Department, Marlo was alone at the time of the shooting.

“Officers responded to a single vehicle accident on I-285 near the Benjamin E. Mays Drive overpass,” the APD told E! News. “Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and found the 30-year-old driver deceased inside the vehicle. The preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling on I-285 in the southbound lanes when the driver was shot. The vehicle came to rest on the left side of the southbound lanes.

“Atlanta Police Homicide investigators responded to the scene and immediately began their investigation. At this time, investigators believe the victim was the intended target of the gunfire and they are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. At this time the investigation continues.”

Marlo signed to Quality Control in 2017 and that same year, he and Lil Baby collaborated on the 2 The Hard Way mixtape. Not long after his death, rumors started circulating the bullet that killed Marlo was intended for Lil Baby, which he promptly laughed off.
