Eminem Rattles Off His Picks For Greatest Rapper Of All Time

The debate over who’s the greatest rapper of all time has been ongoing for decades — but when Eminem weighs in on the subject, Hip Hop fans tend to listen.

On Saturday night (June 13), the diamond-selling MC decided to reply to a Twitter post from NoLifeShaq asking the age old question: “Who The Greatest Rapper Of All-Time?” The idea was to DM 30 different rappers — including Em, Joyner Lucas, Hopsin, Lil Tjay and more — in an effort to get their selections.

To the host’s surprise, he got an answer from the one and only Slim Shady. Roughly two hours after the post went up, Shady rattled off Lil Wayne, 2Pac, Royce Da 5’9, JAY-Z, Redman, Naughty By Nature’s Treach, Kool G Rap, The Notorious B.I.G. and KXNG Crooked as his top G.O.A.T. picks.

“For me, in no particular order,” he wrote. “Toss up between wayne, pac, royce, jay, redman, treach, g. rap, biggie and king crook.”

Eminem’s tweet follows his Live Q&A in support of The Marshall Mathers LP‘s 20th anniversary, which took place on May 27. During his time in the chat, Shady revealed who he believes is the most underrated rapper of all time — KXNG Crooked.

KXNG Crooked Reacts To Eminem's Ultimate Co-Sign

Crooked offered a quick response after hearing about Em’s choice, telling HipHopDX, “That means a lot coming from a Jedi man. I’m grateful for his willingness to speak positive things about me in public because he doesn’t have to. I guess sometimes it takes a master to recognize another one. Thanks for showing me because I know to thank him now.”

The Slaughterhouse MC once again showed his appreciation for Em’s latest mention with a meme.

    Check it out below.

    1. I saw the embarrassment y’all pulled with all that Eminem licking and calling Royce a racist & stupid for anti-vaxx and claiming he praising Em for clout. Now Em shut yo b!tchasses up with including him in goat list. Plus, see my name. Now go play with Em’s balls.

      1. Yup. The Hip-Hop artist with the most amount of sales EVER, who every single album debuted at #1 should retire. You’re a genius sir. Maybe look into working for the government?

    2. Em hasn’t released an amazing album since after 2009. Post-Relapse he’s shifted his focus to selling more records and just doing crazy bars and flow patterns and shit like that, ignoring the quality of the music he makes…

        1. You’re dumb to laugh out loud on that. Proud I ain’t have your music taste. gtfo

        1. Kamikaze was great, not incredible. But u ain’t got to send me two seperate replies with two different names lol I didn’t want to reply again. F*g.

      1. You clearly wouldnt know about quality. Sounds like another tard who cant let go of “those highschool days”

Recovery is still one of his best Albums. Lyrically its one of his best with metaphors.

The MMLP2 was a damn good follow up for an ALBUM that should of never had a sequel.

Music to be Murdered by is concept album from song 1 – 19. Do you know how hard and genuis that album is.

Im a bigger Stan than anyone, and your a dumb ass. Cause Relapse was full of shitty accents, bad lyrics, incoherent topics and clearly the work of someone still with a mushy brain from drugs. I bet your the kind of fool who thinks “Well if you dont like my shit then you can suck my dick”, is prob one of Ems best lines.

Sorry your favorite artist IQ and musical pallet evolved past what you can compute.

        1. Okay I won’t reply to you after this and damn sure won’t argue with you lol. I can see why you have all these stupid thoughts, since you said you’re “a bigger stan than anyone” lol dumbass. Shove Recovery up your ass or whatever you want to do with it. Bye.

    3. I still think as an overall songwriter, Royce is way better than Crooked, and lyrically it’s damn close. Shit, in 2020…Royce is better than Eminem too.

      1. Are you smoking that hard shit crooked is way better than Royce evidently you and the other seven clowns that flamed you never heard the hip-hop weeklies? king crook is for sure hands down the best to touch the mic

        1. Illiterate? I said “songwriter” meaning not just rappidy-rap shit, although Royce is just as good at that too. Hiphop weekly was mostly what? Freestyles? Right. Trust me fam I know more about this shit than you ever have…

      1. When it comes to BLM, there’s no answer a white person could give that wouldn’t be “problematic”. I have no time for them. They make everything a Black Vs White issue when the white people they have a problem with are a tiny minority of the entire race. The bad people they have an issue with, I have issues with too. But don’t lump me in with them and villify me then demand my empathy. Most of us are struggling to pay our bills and raise our kids like anybody else.

      2. Maybe u should pay attention more or do your googles and check eminems IG.. dumb fuck. I HATE ppl who dont do research before making a comment.

    4. I’m surprised hasn’t caught a double jeopardy cancellation from the sjw woke mob over “foolish pride”. Imagine if that was uncovered today instead of 2003, Em would probably get dropped from interscope.

      1. He wouldn’t be able to release The Marshall Mathers LP today on a major label like Interscope that’s for sure.

    5. How does Lil wayne always get on people’s list so overrated. I just don’t get it. So many rappers who are better and its not even close. Rappers like Wayne and 50 cent were part of the decline of hip hop.

    6. How does Lil wayne get on these goat lists so overrated. I don’t get the hype. So many rappers who are better. Rappers like Wayne and 50 cent were part of the real decline of hip hop.

      1. How the fuck was 50 cent the reason why hip hop declined? He dropped two classics and made a third with games first album, all those singles were his.

        1. Compared to the late 80s-90s era of hip hop, 50’s era was way sub par in comparison. Not saying he was the reason why hip hop declined but he was part of a era which was not good.

      2. Wayne dropped multiple classics in the 2000s. The 2010s wasn’t great for him, but neither was it for Jay-Z or Eminem.

    7. So hard to pick top ten of all time…. what’s it mean? Best lyrics, most sales, biggest impact? maybe break it down for each generation…

      7. Public Enemy
      8. De La Soul
      9. RUN DMC
      10. Beastie Boys

      1. Bizzy is overrated and doesn’t have bars like that. He just sounds decent saying a bunch of bullshit. Give me Bizzy Bone quotables if you really feel this way because I’ll never ever see it.

    8. DOOM is the greatest.

“Is they rhymers or stripping males? Out of work jerks since they shut down chippendales.”

    9. Hundred spoke Dayton’s rolling with some OG’s back in the day old originators true gladiators engenius of the mayhem

    10. 1. Nas 2. 2pac 3. Rakim 4. Eminem 5. Biggie 6. Jay-Z 7. Royce Da 5’9″ 8. Scarface 9. Game 10. AZ

      1. He mentioned Esco in a tweet right after this one. Along with Rakim and a few other names. His Goat list was two tweets. This article only had one.

    11. I like Wayne, I like Royce and I like Crooked….. but I cannot take any top 5 (or even 10) that includes them seriously…..

I mean……. Black Thought, Scarface, Nas, Jay, Big, Pac, Andre 3 Stacks, Eminem, Rakim, G.Rap…… is already 10 without even having common or any Wu-Tang on there…

      1. He did a second tweet that included Nas, Rakim, G Rap, Kane,LL, Kendrick, Joyner and Cole as more GOATs. The writer might have missed that one. But it’s directly behind this tweet.

    12. Saigon should be up there shout out to my mans and tru life but seriously big L should be on every list for top rapper….wordsworth/Sean price/illastrate/GURU

    13. Why is tech n9ne always ignored.

He has so much quality and consistency in his projects. Dude is so underrated it’s sad..

        1. Tech n9ne is wack? Anyone that doesn’t like tech doesn’t like hip hop you post malone listening mutha fucka

    14. Kool Keith, Black Thought, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Ghostface Killah, Eminem, Scarface, 2Pac, Ice-T, Andre 3000, Ice Cube, Prodigy, Raekwon, Pusha T, Del the Funky Homosapien, Talib Kweli, Kendrick Lamar, Pharoahe Monch, Method Man, Redman

    15. Hahaha. Royce and Crooked don’t even have an album or song that one can think of immediately. Eminem that nepotism gotta stop.

      1. Royce: Book of Ryan, Rock City, Layers, Death Is Certain, Bar Exam 4, and soon to be The Allegory. He has a fine discography don’t sleep on it.

    16. Top 10 no particular order…NAS, Biggie, Redman, Jay Z, 3stacks, EM, 2pac, LL cool j, Rakim, Black Thought

11-20 no particular order… Mos Def, Common, Jadakiss, MC Lyte, Ghostface, Ice Cube, Royce Da 5’9, KRS one, Method Man, Big L

21-25 no particular order… GZA, Lauren Hill, MC Ren, Big PUN, Slick Rick

      No debating its MY LIST.

    17. He should put nas, Kendrick & cube in the list! I still don’t understand why the fuck everybody loves jay z so much? 90% of he’s top singles are pop songs, he don’t got punchlines or is super lyrical. He stole 90% of he’s flow from BIG. The only thing he got is a lot of money and Beyoncé (that ain’t that hot anymore) fuck jay z!

      1. That’s your opinion, Em has his own opinion, you cant dictate his thoughts. That’s why I hate these subjective questions, hip hop fans want to dictate the list all the time.

      2. he added nas, LL, cole, kendrick, joyner, kane, andre3000, redman and rakim in a second post, which isn’t mentioned in the article…

      3. JAY doesn’t have punchlines? I could maybe see you knocking his technique post-2007 or so, but even now dude is arguably one of the most clever MC’s ever in the punchline category. He’s got that if nothing else.

    18. 2pac (greatest THUG) Biggie (greatest LYRICIST) Dr Dre (greatest PRODUCER) Ice Cube (greatest PROTESTER) Snoop Dogg (greatest GANGSTA) Nas (greatest STORY TELLER) Jay-Z (greatest BUSINESSMAN) RZA (greatest MIND) 50 Cent (greatest BULLY)

    19. Eminem is the greatest of all time, everybody knows this, but no1 wants to admit that a WHITE rapper is the g.o.a.t .

      1. “everybody knows this” lol eminem’s fanbase consists mostly of suburbanite white kids who cant tell you shit about hip hop outside of eminem related shit.

        1. Facts …..Eminems fan base consider him the greatest of all time because he’s all they now lol I remember a white chick said to me that Eminems the greatest rapper ever . She don’t even listen to hip hop. But she listens to Eminem lol

        2. I rate Eminem highly and I would bet you that I have a wider knowledge of hip hop than you, you fkn racist. A lot of rappers name him as a GOAT, you ignorant pos.

      1. What songs have you listened to?! Wayne lyricism and wordplay is on a different level than most rappers plus his beats are unique when he’s not remixing

        1. Most of his albums actually. His early albums are pretty weak with cheap ass sounding beats. He released two decent Carter albums then he released piece of crap after piece of crap. IANAHB2 is one the worst albums I’ve ever heard. Lame punchline after lame punchline. Embarrassing.

    20. West Coast Top 10 Lyricist in no particular order: The Game, Nipsey Hustle, Kendrick Lamar, E40, The Lady of Rage,Marvelous, C-BO, Xzibit, Above the Law, Ice Cube.
I don’t consider 2pac a West Coast artist. He wasn’t raised over here like that. But he is a Legend.

    21. I don’t know why people report this stuff. I bet that Em’ didn’t even give much thought to this list. Don’t tell me he would not have mentioned Andre 3000 and Nas…

    22. It goes, Reggie, Jay-Z, Tupac and Biggie / Andre from Outkast, Jada, Kurupt, Nas and then me

    23. 1-NAS 2-GHOSTFACE KILLAH 3-RAKIM 4-KRS ONE 5-ICE CUBE 6-SCARFACE 7-GZA 8-CASUAL 9-SNOOP DOGG 10-ANDRE 3000

    24. Who better than Em? – Nobody.

That’s Facts, hit after hit, No.1 selling hip hop artist of all time, lyrical beast that’s why nobody wanted to Instagram battle him, admit it ppl. Let’s stop the BS about White ppl are guest in the house of hip hop, it’s music, a genre nobody owns it’s, black artist need to step it up lyrically and stops complaining..
