The popularity of Verzuz, the Instagram Live “battles” founded by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, has caused fans to create fantasy matchups of their favorite stars. One rapper many have deemed untouchable in a Verzuz style battle is Lil Wayne — and Wayne’s peers know it.

On the latest installment of Young Money Radio on Friday (June 5), Snoop Dogg brought the question to Wayne’s doorstep.

“That Verzuz battle, when they gon’ get you in there?” Snoop asks Tunechi about possible participation. “You the young GOAT! You birthed the second generation of rappers; you deserve to be in the race.”

Wayne played it off, saying, “If they start me, they ain’t gon’ stop me. They gon’ have to ring the bell, ‘Tune stop!’ I can’t stop.”

Both men recognized Wayne has been in the game well over three decades since he initially signed with Cash Money Records as a pre-teen. Snoop even drew the comparison to Wayne’s favorite basketball player, the late great Kobe Bryant.

“Kobe played half his life in basketball,” Snoop told Wayne. “Half your life been in rapping. I just wanna see you in there because I love what you do and I love what you bring to the table. You the young GOAT, you understand me? A lot of people say that they GOATs, but they not GOATs.”

The Long Beach icon added, “When you did what you did, and you birth a nation? You birth a nation of rappers that are emulate of who you are. All the ‘lil this, lil that, young this’ them yo’ babies. I birthed the gangsta shit; you birthed this shit.”

Snoop Dogg Talks Los Angeles Being United Following George Floyd Protests

Since its inception in mid-March, Verzuz has established various viewership records on Instagram Live, including battles between Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, Nelly versus Ludacris, Jill Scott versus Erykah Badu and Babyface versus Teddy Riley.

There hasn’t been a new announcement made for which two artists will next go head-to-head, but Snoop has already voiced he wants in due to his own catalog.

“To me, it would be Snoop versus JAY-Z,” Snoop told Fat Joe on Instagram Live last month. “Because he has been the king of New York around the time I was the King of the West.”
