Bun B Campaigns For UGK To Face 8Ball & MJG In Verzuz Battle

Bun B wants to bring two of Southern Hip Hop’s elite duos to the Verzuz stage. The legendary MC is lobbying for an Instagram Live battle between UGK and 8Ball & MJG.

“@therealswizzz and @timbaland are open to having us on @verzuztv y’all,” he wrote via Instagram. “They just wanna see that the people want it. So tag them in my comments. Then repost the pic by @willo_hdesign to your page and story and tag them again. Let’s get the word out!”

Bun is asking fans to prove there’s demand for a UGK versus 8Ball & MJG matchup by sharing a graphic created by digital artist Willo H. Design. The veteran rapper is also calling on social media users to tag Verzuz founders Swizz Beatz and Timbaland in any posts about the potential clash.

On paper, UGK against 8Ball & MJG would be an even contest since they’re both Southern rap pioneers who dropped debuts in the early ’90s. But such a battle would lack a true two-on-two dynamic without the late Pimp C, who passed away in 2007.

Swizz Beatz & Timbaland Create New Verzuz Rule Following Jagged Edge's Fail

If Bun gets his wish, he and 8Ball & MJG will be required to use a special system designed to optimize the sound quality for the Instagram Live battles. Following audio issues in Jagged Edge’s showdown with 112, Swizz and Timbo instituted a new rule requiring all participants to utilize a setup provided by the Roland Corporation if they want to compete in Verzuz.

“We’re gonna make that an enforceable rule,” Swizz declared. “You cannot do Verzuz unless you use the technology that we’re sending you because we’re sending it to you for a reason.”

    1. Would love to see this. 8-Ball & MJG are the true kings of the south. Snobs who only listen to boom bap or east/west stuff would enjoy how lyrical they are. Give them a chance, even all the solo records are incredible.

    2. I can dig it. 4 legends in the game more hits than a lil bit a pro you can drive a truck up in starships n rockets paid my dues lay it down crumbz to bricks feds in town I left it wet it’s supposed to bubble one day high life touched ridin dirty thank God janky high side let me see it wood wheel officer that was a cigarette I was smokin players anthem diamonds up against that wood front back murda Bobby Whitney game belong to me pocket full o stones swisha dosha living that life tell me something good show nuff friend o for coming out hard candy the hits go on

    3. Ummmm yeah….Pimp C is dead sooooo…..no….that and UGK would win anyways… hands down…no disrespect to 8ball and MJG who are Southern Legends in their own rights.

    4. Man this would be dope. Personally I have them damn near at the same level giving a slight edge to UGK. I’m from TN so I could be a lil bias towards Ball and G but you can’t go wrong with neither. UGK has more mainstream status but Ball and G are legends in their own right. There’s no rise in southern hip hop without them. Lil Jon jacked the term “crunk” from Memphis but did it respectfully

    5. I’m from Texas and love them both equally. I own every album from both. 8 ball & MJG have an animal in MJG that gives them the edge. Pimp C was a masterful producer & game connoisseur but you have to dissect lyrics and Ball & G the greatest duo past or present.

      1. Let Bun and Mjg go so it’ll be one one one represents each group since pimp aint there

    6. This battle is equally match to me ain’t no losers in this one i declare a win overall for both of them plus they all should do an album together that will be a treat for everybody
