COVID-19 doesn’t discriminate. From Prince Charles and actor Tom Hanks to singer-songwriter John Prine and Geto Boys legend Scarface, celebrities left and right are revealing their positive test results.
Now, it looks like DJ Jazzy Jeff has potentially contracted the virus. On Monday morning (March 30), the celebrated turntablist revealed he’s battling pneumonia and hinted he was also fighting the coronavirus.
“Pls say a prayer for all the sick,” he wrote in his Instagram Stories. “It’s a lot more than you know!! I’m recovering from pneumonia in both my lungs…I lost my sense of smell and taste which is a main sign of the virus. I would NOT be here if not for my guardian angel for a wife!”
Jazzy Jeff added, “Please take this serious…it does not care who you are…what you do or what your plans are. Stay safe.”
While Jazzy Jeff, 55, didn’t explicitly confirm he had the virus, his posts indicate he at least believes he has it. The globetrotting DJ could’ve contracted it anywhere. According to the latest report from the CDC, there are currently 760,337 cases worldwide and 36,862 deaths.
The United States now has more cases than any other country in the world. However, it’s important to note the virus does have an 81 percent recovery rate. The elderly and people with pre-existing health conditions are more susceptible to the virus.
Jazzy Jeff has evidently been sick for weeks. His latest tweet, posted on March 7, indicated he was ill.
“I’ll be happy when I’m home and I can cough freely,” he wrote. “LOL.”
