Westside Gunn has claimed 2020 will be his last year rapping, and it appears he intends to go out with a bang. After Madlib spoke about working with the Griselda Records founder on an album in a recent interview with Gilles Peterson, Westside confirmed the collaboration in an Instagram post on Tuesday (December 3).

“Well Since MADLIB told y’all,” he wrote. “YES the WSG x MADLIB Project is dropping 2020, in 19’ I gave y’all Awesome GOD, HWH7, and WWCD soon as the ball drop I’m right back on the N…. necks #FLYGOD #LEGEND #THENEWKINGOFNY #BUFFALOKIDS #RocNation #Culture #GXFR.”

He added, “and Please go support HWH7 and WWCD were making HISTORY btw 2020 my last year rapping I’m going down as one of the Illest Ever.”

Madlib and Westside previously worked together on the latter’s Flygod Is An Awesome God, which dropped in July. Madlib produced two songs on the project, “Gunnlib” and “Ferragamo Funeral.”

In addition to the collab with Westside, Madlib reiterated plans for a third album with Freddie Gibbs titled Montana. The acclaimed producer also spoke on Black Star’s highly anticipated reunion and The ProfessionalsLP, a collaboration with his brother Oh No that’s due out in January.
