Lil Wayne was clearly blown away by Tyga’s new video for “Lightskin Lil Wayne.” On Monday (July 8), Weezy shared a clip of the visual to his Instagram account and showered Tyga with nothing but praise for the tribute.
“Love!!!!!!” he wrote in the caption. “That’s too dope bro. I’m at a lost for words after watching & listening to that! It feels gratifying to be honored in such a way! It feels uber better when it’s from ya broski!! Love @tyga – Light Skinned Tunechi!”
Tyga and Wayne’s relationship stretches back over a decade. In 2008, Tyga signed with Wayne’s Cash Money Records and performed “This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race” with Weezy at the MTV VMAs that same year.
T-Raww’s second studio album, Careless World: Rise of the Last King, was released by the label in 2012 and Hotel California followed in 2013.

In October of 2014, Tyga revealed via Twitter he’d been held “hostage” by Young Money while waiting on the release of his Gold Album: The 18th Dynasty. He told his fans he’d be leaving Young Money soon.
“Gold album been done,” he said. “my label holding me hostage so i can’t release nothing. might just leak it for my fans then let them make $ off it.”
Although Tyga did ultimately leave the imprint with Birdman’s blessing, Wayne reportedly didn’t cosign his departure. Despite all the label drama, Tyga and Wayne evidently remain close.
“Lightskin Lil Wayne” is taken from T-Raww’s latest project, Legendary, which was released last month.
