Miami, FL

Kodak Black, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, was arrested Saturday night (May 11) on weapons charges. He was apprehended prior to his scheduled performance at the 2019 Rolling Loud Festival at Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium.

The controversial rapper is facing state and federal charges following an investigation by U.S. Marshals, U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Miami-Dade Police Department’s North Side Gang Unit. According to the Miami Herald, U.S. Marshals called it an “extensive investigation.”

A photo of Kodak in custody was posted on social media by WSVN reporter Brian Entin. Kodak’s attorney Bradford Cohen condemned law enforcement for making the image available to the public.

“I think the actions of the [police] in taking a photo of him in the police station in handcuffs and selling it or giving it to WSVN is a disgusting display of unprofessionalism,” Cohen told The Sun-Sentinel.
