Hip Hop didn’t manage to top the latest Billboard 200 chart due to Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born soundtrack, which got a bump from the 2019 Academy Awards. But, rap did secure half of the entries in the Top 10. Gunna, Offset and Lil Pump’s respective albums were all able to score Top 10 debuts this week along with R&B star Kehlani’s While We Wait project.

Also, some of Hip Hop’s recent staples on the chart experienced slight falls this week. A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie went from No. 6 to No. 8, Post Malone fell from No. 7 to No. 10 and Travis Scott dropped from No. 8 to No. 12.

Gunna Secures Hip Hop’s Best-Selling Album Of The Week

Offset was projected to have the top sales among rappers on the latest Billboard 200, but Gunna was able to narrowly beat him out for the honors. The Young Thug protégé’s Drip Or Drown 2 managed to move 89,874 total album equivalent units, beating out Offset by just a few hundred units.

In terms of pure album sales, Gunna only sold 465 more copies than the Migos member. He also racked up about 6 million more streams to grab Hip Hop’s top spot for the week and No. 3 overall.

Offset’s First Solo LP Cracks Top 5

While Offset didn’t lead the charge as predicted, he still managed to debut at No. 4 after his album went through months of delays. Father of 4 was originally scheduled to drop last year but got pushed back amid turmoil in his marriage with Cardi B.

With the couple’s problems seemingly in the rearview mirror, Offset finally dropped the LP in February. He sold 89,029 total album equivalent units, 6,590 of which came from pure album sales.

Lil Pump Debuts In Top 10

Another oft-delayed album, Lil Pump’s Harverd Dropout, hit No. 7 in its debut on the Billboard 200. The controversial rapper did particularly well when it came to pure album sales, selling 24,789 copies.

Overall, Lil Pump’s sophomore LP moved 48,351 total album equivalent units in its first week on the chart.
