The Beastie Boys’ 2018 memoir Beastie Boys Book has been nominated for the 2019 Audie Awards’ Audiobook of the Year, the highest honor for the medium. The official Beastie Boys Book Twitter account celebrated the monumental news on Monday (February 4).
“Whoa…Beastie Boys audioBook just nominated for ‘Audiobook of theYear,” the tweet read.
The post came with the link to the 2019 nominees.
The long awaited memoir begins with the Beasties’ punk rock origins and continually pays tribute to the late Adam “MCA” Yauch, who passed away from cancer in 2012.

The audiobook is narrated by the two surviving Beasties — Mike D and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horowitz — and a full cast of notable entertainment figures, including Steve Buscemi, Elvis Costello, Chuck D, Snoop Dogg, Will Ferrell, Tim Meadows, MC Serch, LL Cool J and Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon.
Last May, Mike D commented on the book in an Instagram post.
“I’m not sure if you remember or not, but a while ago we said that we were gonna write a book about our band,” he wrote. “Well, it’s almost done and it’s coming out soon, and this is what it’s gonna look like. Kinda nice, right? It’s got a little something for everyone.”
In addition to Beastie Boys Book, An American Marriage by Tayari Jones, Calypso by David Sedaris, Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi, I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara and The Good Neighbor by Maxwell King were also nominated in the category.
