Chance The Rapper continues to distinguish himself as one of Hip Hop’s most visible philanthropists. During Thursday’s (October 4) second annual SocialWorks summit in Chicago, the hometown hero outlined the ways SocialWorks — the nonprofit he founded two years ago to help empower kids — will continue to support children in the Windy City.
In addition to expanding the New Chance Fund, Lil Chano announced SocialWorks would be donating $100,000 grant for the next three years to 20 more public schools in Chicago. He also broke down how the foundation would support mental health with its new initiative “My State of Mind” and pledge a large donation to back it up.

“We need a new space where people can get information on how they feel, information on where to go, and a network for people to interact and review our mental health spaces — creating a community of people helping people,” Chance explained. “I’m proud to announce that I’m pledging $1 million towards mental health services in Chicago.

“With the help of SocialWorks, we want to change the way that mental health resources are being accessed by you.”
SocialWorks is also pledging an additional $100,000 to six different mental health organizations in Cook County.
