New York, NY

Only a day after it was reported Tekashi 6ix9ine wouldn’t be granted bail for an assault charge, the polarizing Brooklyn rapper is reportedly leaving Rikers Island soon.

According to TMZ, 6ix9ne’s attorneys called for an emergency hearing to convince a judge to allow their client’s release. He must pay $150,000 to get out of the notorious New York jail. Upon his release, he must then surrender to Harris County, Texas authorities and pay another $5,000 bail.

6ix9ine was arrested on Wednesday (July 11) at the John F. Kennedy International Airport for an alleged assault on a 16-year-old boy at the Galleria Mall in Houston, Texas.

Tekashi 6ix9ine has reportedly been transferred to a high-security unit at Rikers Island known as the Contagious Disease Unit. As reported by TMZ, the intention is to keep the Brooklyn-bred rapper safe and in good health.

Law enforcement officials reportedly said 6ix9ine was relocated to a 140-cell section of the infamous New York jail, which is sequestered for inmates with illnesses. It’s also used for high-profile inmates who can’t be in general population — the category 6ix9ine falls under.

Tekashi 6ix9ine evidently won’t be getting out of jail quite yet.

According to TMZ, lawyers for the rainbow colored-haired rapper were in court on Thursday (July 12) requesting bail for 6ix9ine, who was arrested earlier this week. But, a judge reportedly denied that request after deeming him a “flight risk.”

The arrest stems from an incident at Houston’s Galleria Mall in Texas, where 6ix9ine allegedly choked a 16-year-old boy.

The “Gummo” phenom just returned from a European tour, although he was denied entry into the U.K. and was unable to make his London and Manchester shows.

Although it’s unclear why he wasn’t allowed into the country, 6ix9ine has a long rap sheet, including a 2015 child sex crime. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]
