Murs Returns With “A Strange Journey Into The Unimaginable” LP

Murs has been keeping busy as the host of HipHopDX’s The Breakdown but that doesn’t mean his music’s been put the side. The venerable rhymer is back at it, releasing a new album titled A Strange Journey Into The Unimaginable.

His latest LP is another Strange Music release and is produced entirely by Michael “Seven” Summers. The 14-track project sees Murs enlisting the help of Tech N9ne, Fashawn and Prof, among others.

Murs plans to drop his A Strange Journey Into The Unimaginable LP on March 16, which just so happens to be his birthday. Ahead of its release, the host of HipHopDX’s The Breakdown has unveiled the cover art and tracklist for his upcoming album.

The 14-track LP is produced entirely by Michael “Seven” Summers. Tech N9ne, Fashawn, Prof, AV, John Givez and Propaganda make guest appearances.

“This is the most important album of my career,” Murs tells HipHopDX. “It covers everything from grief to mumble rap. From My love for the block and To my love of comic con. And though the subject matter is diverse. It’s all tied together by Seven’s production. He built the entire soundscape around me. It’s truly a Journey Into The unimaginable. For my fans and anyone looking for something unique and truly artistic.

“This is it! This wasn’t built around ego or to garner a certain amount streams. This pure artistic expression. It’s meant to touch the listener and latch on to them. To become a part of their journey. In an era of disposable art, my hope is that this album is proof that the spirit of true creativity is very much alive.”

In addition to the album details, Murs also dropped a video for his “Same Way” single featuring Tech N9ne. The visual depicting a “Meet The Parents dinner from hell” fittingly arrives on Valentine’s Day (February 14).

    1. Why wouldn’t the person who wrote this explain what Murs was talking about? What happened in the last 4 years that made him so broken? Either way, he made it sound like a darker album, which sells it for me. Murs is talented af, but the first album he did on Strange was kinda so-so to me, very pop sounding compared to his 9th Wonder series and the stuff he did on Def Jux back in the day. Or even further back, the stuff from Living Legends days. He has an amazing catalog, I just haven’t liked the new stuff.

    2. So wait this guy doing the HiphopDX Breakdown videos now thinks he is a rapper too smh

            1. Skee-Lo rocked with Project Blowed and could actually spit. But I get it, going off of I Wish yeah you’d think he was a joke.

    3. Murs your the dude…!! I would love to collab on a track with you in the future…Funny, how Ive been following your work since 3:16…These past week ive listened in to Fornever, Final Adv, and Better Daze…To find out ur droppin sum new shit on the 16th…Dope…Daze was coo…

    4. Murs needs to get back with Living Legends immediately. Not even one song with Mystik Journeymen? Sunspot should produce him. God damn.

    5. Melancholic! That’s the best way you can describe this album, its no 4:44 or Revival (compared with it Ems album is fire and the way we were hard on it). I need an album that moves me, makes me mad, happy and sad not a self effacing flat delivery. 2/5 He’s all about peace love and harmony (black version of logic now pwahahahahaha)
