The most dominant sub-genre of Hip Hop music and one of the most negative forms of music to dominate the air waves.

I feel like anything can cause harm depending on the ignorance of the person that’s being influenced. Gangster rap was needed, gangsta and thugs needed a outlet too, probably a lot dudes that jump into the music biz that would have ended up dead or in jail How many members of the Wu would have been in jail for life or not on this earth, How many members of Bone would have been in jail or not on this earth, No limit saved a of youngens from being gone or in jail.
Your life is your life, you should be entitled to rap about whatever you want. The problem lies with what the industry chooses to promote. Just like now, unless you’re pill popping, blatantly not too complex and dressed like a weirdo, it’s an uphill climb to get on, when it shouldn’t be like that. Gangster rap was no different, 75% of artists adopted that lifestyle just to get put on…
While I found this presentation to be very well done and informative, it’s kind of disappointing that the East Coast and the South didn’t get as much feature time as the West Coast. They get gangsta everywhere! What about Michigan Hip Hop? Just my opinion and prefrence. Lets argue! Gangsta rap absolutely has a right to exist, just as much as gangsta movies! I am at Twitter @ MilHustles. Have a blessed day everyone.
Dont need to take the crime rates in consideration, Blacks dont get killed more by police than Whites. Thats a fact. 2016 Police killed 995 People, 497 were White, 259 were Black and 172 Hispanic and 38 others and 29 unknown. So the whole BLM and Colin Kaepernick Protests are completely Bullsh*t and only done to stir things up and segregate the people
Your numbers actually support the BLM complaints. Black ppl make up about 13% of the population yet are over 26% of the ones killed by cops. White ppl are about 48% of the population and make up about 50% of the ppl killed. Hispanics are about 24% and make up about 18%. So they are disproportionally killed by the cops, that’s the issue. There are more white ppl in jail than black as well, but if you look at the percentage of black ppl in jail in relation to the black population in America, you will see it’s skewed again. Ppl need to start thinking before they say stupid shit
No it doesnt. First of all White People is around 70% of the population. Secondly the reason the numbers are “so high” is because less than 13% of the Population commit about 50% of the violent crimes. So it doesnt support BLM complaints it actually shows BLM is BS. Specially when they claim that Black People get shot MORE than everybody else even though they are not
There use to be gangsta rap the days of NWA ,Geto Boys and many more from the late 80’s thru the 90″s era are gone what we got now are a bunch of little internet pop up teenagers wit skinny jeans and kool_aid in their hair face tats and no talent talking tough and the fights they have is pure comedy Gangsta rap days are dead we got mumble rap
It’s American culture, it’s symptomatic, a reflection of parts of what’s happening in parts of the u.s.. you have death metal which is made by predominantly white individuals talk about murder mayhem and drugs. Same with movies, you can’t scorn the horror movie industry because what’s being made isn’t always true, or someone goes out an copies a murder they’ve seen on t.v.. But as all things as time passes, ways of life change as do perspectives and beliefs. But it ain’t going anywhere soon. Fix the problems, help each other not just in your own neighborhood but everywhere then things might change. But as it sits America still treats others who are different with disdain and cold shoulders rather than to proud or scared to lend a helping hand.
In any country with freedom of speech, of course it has a right to exist. And the market dictates what the labels put out. Labels are in the business of making money, so they will disproportionately put out whatever content sells the most. Fact is, Human nature can be darker than we want to acknowledge- sex and violence are primally attractive topics to humans. With that said, we have the capacity to be so much greater than our base instincts. Two examples of hip hop reaching higher and achieving mainstream success are OutKast and Kendrick. Hip hop needs more thought leaders who don’t simply follow trends, but have a higher calling to uplift the community instead of simply profiting off the id of society.
yes it does !! back in 80-90s it may had negativity but was all real, life that this person was going thru or seeing on the streets but bottom line was real and rappers 80-90s were teeling their stories even if its sex, guns, killing but was real and how about these days ? mumble shit ? all about sex, money, bitches, showing their house even some stupid idiots show guns on video but they aint gangsta or something !! so ill rather to listen whats real not these fake wanna be gay rappers
Of course gangsta rap has a right to exist. If you’re gonna let mumble rappers do their thing, why not gangsta rappers? It’s your choice to not listen to it, but it’s not gonna go away anytime soon. Sure, we’d like to see more positivity, but negativity is always gonna have its place. It’s like the yin and the yang, you can’t have one without the other. Like Scarface said “Imagine peace on this earth when there’s no grief, imagine grief on this earth when there’s no peace”. It’s just the way things are.
FOR REAL PEOPLE ONLY. there are alot of pussy people out here.u know? soft af wont get along with that…but definitely it shud exist coz there are people like as still keeping that shit tight
What’s up with the Wu Tang Clan with a K memorabilia in the back made out to you. Did you actually get this signed before they settled on the spelling?

Thats the most stupid question ive almost ever heard. if there was no poverty and everyone had a silver spoon would gangsta rap exist then? Gangsta Rap came from the have nots…… the outcast

Gangsta rap is offensive and it has absolutely no right to exist. We need more homo rap…

Thanks for the video. Props for pointing out blacks killing blacks while being angry at cops for the same thing
Not to mention that the amount of blacks killed by police compared to whites is not disproportionate considering black people commit more crimes.
Dont need to take the crime rates in consideration, Blacks dont get killed more by police than Whites. Thats a fact. 2016 Police killed 995 People, 497 were White, 259 were Black and 172 Hispanic and 38 others and 29 unknown. BLM is controlled by jevvish people so of course they are anti-white.

“cnn of the streets” is pretty spot on for todays gangsta rap. good analogy, ironically
Gangster movies…Horror movies…violent dramas…who cares! Oh Blacks are producing it?? Yeaa it’s bad for society smh

The real question is, does Hip Hop DX have a right to exist? Fuck this clickbait bullshit.
How is this click bait? Get in on the discussion
dumb. especially considering how much is studio gangsta.

Freddie Gibbs. Best gangster rapper out now. We need this music to balance all the soft shit being put out these days.
Some claim gangsta rap is the CNN of the streets, but it’s used as an excuse to pretend over beats…
What’s up with the Wu Tang Clan with a K memorabilia in the back made out to you. Did you actually get this signed before they settled on the spelling?
Gangsta rap had its time, but it should die now. Celebrating darkness is never good. Blacks don’t celebrate darkness
