A fan theory about Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. has come full circle. After K. Dot confirmed a theory about how the LP can be played backward, the rap superstar has upped the ante by actually releasing a version of the project with a reversed tracklisting.

Shortly after DAMN. dropped, enterprising fans figured out the narrative worked just as well — if not better — when played from back to front. In August, Kung Fu Kenny revealed this was intentional.

“I think like a week after the album came out, [fans] realized you can listen to the album backwards,” Lamar told MTV. “It plays as a full story and even a better rhythm. It’s one of my favorite rhythms and tempos within the album. It’s something that we definitely premeditate while we’re in the studio.”

The collector’s edition of Lamar’s latest project begins with the 9th Wonder-produced “DUCKWORTH.” and doesn’t include any additional songs.
