Xzibit is bringing his Open Bar Entertainment
imprint to Koch Records. With his five previous albums, 3 million
units sold to date, his reality career on Pimp My Ride, X is
primed to return to the forefront of hip-hop.
His new album, Full Circle
will be in stores Tuesday, September 19 and will follow up on the single, Concentrate, which will hit radio and
video outlets soon.
Xzibit told reporters, “After 10 years of being signed to a
major label, I have learned a lot. KOCH Records is giving me the opportunity to
put this knowledge to work. I am excited to be putting an Independent record
out through Open Bar Entertainment/KOCH Records and am looking forward to doing
what I love to do best.”
“I’ve been making records [for so long], so to be able to do what
I love and do it well, I gotta take it back to what I love to do, my
perspective has definitely changed [over the years],” he added. “The things I
used to say when I was 18, 19 or 20 aren’t the things I’m feeling now, you know?
I’ve definitely grown a lot as an individual, as a man, and as a father, and
that perspective needs to be shared and put out there.
“I think having
powerful music that says something is a must for me now,” explained X, who first
tackled political issues on 2004’s Weapons of Mass Destruction. “So
that’s what I plan to do with this record: shed some light on the growth that
I’ve had so hopefully someone can relate and feel me.“
To date, Xzibit has released four West Coast albums, 40
Dayz & 40 Nights, Restless, Man Vs. Machine and Weapons of Mass
Destruction. Xzibit has also made himself a name in Hollywood, with appearances
in The Wash with Dr. Dre and Snoop, 8Mile with Eminem,
Derailed, alongside Clive Owen and the RZA himself and
with another rapper, Ice Cube in XXX: State of the Union.
Next up for Xzibit, he will star alongside The Rock in the new
blockbuster, Gridiron Gang, which is set for a September release.
