Many Hip Hop fans took a moment to remember J Dilla on Tuesday, who passed away 11 years ago of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (a rare blood disease more commonly know as TTP).

February 7 was Dilla’s birthday, and he would have been 43 this year. Masked rapper MF DOOM led the tributes to Dilla, posting a video to his official Facebook account titled “Happy Birthday Brother.”

DOOM appearances have been a rarity these days, making his message all the more poignant. Speaking to camera, Doom said: “Dilla, Dilla. Shout out to my man J Dilla, moment of silence.” The brief video ends just seconds later.

The clip picked up 325,000 views in less than 24 hours.

The rapper wasn’t alone in his tribute to the legend. J. Rocc and Common were among the many others who also took to Twitter to share their love for the man.

It’s not the first time that the metal-faced villain has paid tribute to a fallen legend from the deck of a boat. He similarly posted a video mourning Sean Price after his death in 2015, saying, “Rest in peace to the good brother Sean Price. See you over there.”
