Riot Grrl pioneer, feminist icon and wife to Beastie Boys MC Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz, Kathleen Hanna, must have rubbed off on the once unruly teenage New Yorker. The 50-year-old Hip Hop pioneer once penned a letter to Time Out magazine apologizing for the trio’s homophobic lyrics, and recently gave an impassioned speech at a rally after swastikas and the words “Go Trump” were tagged on Adam Yauch Park in Brooklyn Heights.
Now he’s teamed up with vegan footwear company Keep for a shoe collaboration that benefits Planned Parenthood. Deemed the Ad-Rock x Keep midtop collaboration or “The Ramos Ad-Rock,” the shoe (designed by Ad-Rock) features a weather-resistant cordura body with a synthetic fleece lining, accented with channel quilted and silicon coated nylon.
The D-ring and bungee lace structure are designed for easy slip on and off, and black and magenta laces come with each pair. The shoes retail for $97 and can be pre-ordered here. All proceeds go to Planned Parenthood.
