Netflix has ordered not one, not two, but three Dave Chappelle comedy specials, the online streaming service has announced.

“Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy — searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential,” said Netflix VP of original documentary and comedy Lisa Nishimura in a statement to Variety. “Dave’s three new specials promise to be some of the most anticipated events in comedy.”

While details of the three projects remain scarce, some reports have surfaced detailing what the shows will entail.

The first will see Chappelle reunite with director/producer Stan Lathan for an original stand-up special, USA Today reports. Lathan has worked with Chappelle before, leading his past hits Killin’ Them Softly and For What It’s Worth.

The other two are from “Chappelle’s personal comedy vault” and were filmed at Austin City Limits Live and the Hollywood Palladium, according to Pitchfork.

The three projects will serve as Chappelle’s first TV specials since For What It’s Worth aired in 2004.

Dave Chappelle made his return to television earlier this month (November 13), hosting Saturday Night Livefor the first time in his storied career.
