Bette Midler questions why Azealia Banks was suspended from Twitter.

Actress Bette Midler is one of few in the Twittersphere to come to the defense of Azealia Banks, following the musician’s suspension from Twitter. Midler questioned why Banks was suspended for racist and homophobic remarks, while Donald Trump is still allowed to flourish on the social networking site.

“Twitter deactivated Azealia Banks’ account for homophobia & racism? So why is Donald Trump still here?,” Bette Midler wrote in a tweet sent yesterday (May 15).

Ironically, Trump serves as the presidential candidate Banks has vouched for on several occasions.

Although the Harlem-based Banks has feuded with a countless number of entertainers via Twitter, her comments aimed at crooner Zayn Malik ultimately resulted in her Twitter downfall.

In her tirade against the former One Directioner, which began after Banks felt Malik jacked elements of a past music video for his “Like I Would” video, she referred to the singer as a “token sand nigga,” “PUNJAB,” and “faggot.”

“Token sand nigga pout: ‘I was the least celebrated in the white boy group because I’m brown’…’Trying to make myself known but I’m still known as the token sand nigga from 1D’…LOL @ZAYNMALIK IS A FAGGOT,” Banks wrote in several tweets, last week.
