While he’s keeping at least one foot in the battle rap world with his ongoing partnership with FilmOn Media and the Ether brand, Lush One announced to BattleRap.com’sChris Mitchell in a new interview that he has his sights set on the Chicago Hip Hop scene for his next play.
“I’ve always been a big, outspoken representative of the Chicago rap scene,” Lush said in a clip that premiered as a part of today’s DX Daily. “I feel like it’s some of the most authentic and cutting edge as far as the reality of the streets and how that’s conveyed. It’s a much different vain than battle rap but it still has the same rawness to it. We’re in the process of negotiating a huge deal which encompasses music videos and distribution and a lot more. I can’t speak on it too much. Shout out to Glory Boyz [Entertainment], Chief Keef, the homie Tadoe, Ballout, the homie Flashy, the homie Mike. It’s 300.”
Late last year, Lush One spoke with BattleRap.com about the fallout from the first FilmOn battle rap event.
“I allowed outside entities to infiltrate our culture who didn’t have the proper understanding and respect of it,” he said. “And I tried through all of my means and I felt like I literally feel like I spent every single day of the last six months working 14-hour days; me, my wife, my entire staff, my entire family, everybody putting everything we have towards this and trying to create this understanding. It still despite that effort fell short.”
